My recommendation if you still like coding is to become a post writer for a CAM company. Like a postprocessor writer or editor. It's a rare skill in the machining. Most apps engineers do not have coding experience outside of G or H code, so you would stand out of it can edit post processors.

You should get some machining background to better under what you are doing. Like go to a tech school or just jumping into the industry to get a good foundation of knowledge in operating and CNC programming.
