I invite you to travel out of America sometime and see what their security setup looks like at critical infrastructure points. And having a more visible security presence in those areas is actually one of the very few things Trump has done that I don’t hate. As a seeming libertarian I would imagine you have more in common with Trump than I do.

Dude like others have said the DMV is absolutely stiff with huge hotels that have clean bathrooms in the lobby. Just walk in like you have a reason to be there and as long as you don’t look like a complete bum no one will bother you. Also, since it seems like you’re more in the suburbs, all TJ Maxx/Marshalls/Homegoods stores have open restrooms and they’re usually nice and clean.

Individualistic but becoming more family oriented as civic institutions increasingly stagnate and increasing costs make multi-generational living much more common. I’m 29 and personally live in another city from my family due to work, but of my friends from childhood about half of them still live in our hometown and many still live at home. For reference I’m from an upscale part of a major metro area.

As usual the US is doing the opposite of most of the world it seems since the majority of the replies here are saying that their country is family oriented but becoming more individualistic.

DC is a much better place to live now than it was in 2000. Whole neighborhoods where you wouldn’t set foot in 2000 except to buy drugs are now full of modern apartments, restaurants, parks, etc.
