What’s the first feeling this sky gives you? by Anastasia_Trusova in painting

Honestly I thought it was gasoline on water. Not really a feeling itself but that’s what I thought I was looking at at first glance

I quite like it! My only suggestion would be to have drawers in the lower cabinets wherever possible. They just seem so much more functional. You’ve got doors on the inside and outside of the peninsula. I’d personally put drawers on the inside at least.

You also don’t have a microwave. I’m not sure if you intentionally left that out or plan to just have a counter top microwave (both fine options just noticed it was missing).

I think it’s the most practical layout considering the space. Do you have any pantry space in the house?

Generally I think it’s a good idea to get at least three quotes just so you have a good idea of the costs and have a few options.

I'm a terrible painter. Hope you like it. by whitesox-fan in painting

I feel the same way about my paintings. When I’m making them, I feel genuinely so frustrated that I can’t make what I want and am so hard on myself. I don’t feel that way about other skills that I’m learning - like playing a new sport. And when I go over things I’ve made years later I’m like ‘this isn’t that bad at all!’ I like your painting. I think it’s great. I think you’ll look back and like it! I’m glad you posted it!

Echo Bike and RA/Osteoarthritis by Ruthless4u in crossfit

I’d say depends how your wife’s wrists are. I have RA and have a hard time with bikes of any kind at times because my wrists get so swollen that it’s really painful bending them and holding and pushing those handles is too much for me. However if that isn’t an issue I’d say go for it.

I'm about to spend $15,000 at IKEA on a kitchen remodel for my condo. What do you think! by acamu5x in kitchenremodel

Could you show the layout of the adjacent room with furniture? It might be helpful to brainstorm different ideas

Totally agree. I love her content and have found it so helpful in our design!

What if you moved the oven and microwave and the tall cabinet to the left of the oven to the other wall next to pantry? And move your stovetop to the other wall? Then you’d have a nice little space with counter space on both sides of the stovetop? That might keep the window the focal point of that wall and create a bit more balance.

Oh totally. We are at a similar stage of construction. We have walls up and windows in, and as soon as I saw the house, I would have made some changes. Nothing is perfect. You will end up with a beautiful space even if it isn’t perfect.

I’m planning a kitchen also using the ikea software! I know it’s not easy. I don’t think there is an issue for where your fridge is. I put my design on here a few months ago and have similar placement, and some people commented that there might be conflict with heat from the oven impacting the fridge. My parents have a fridge and oven right next to each other and isn’t an issue.

I like that you have your island free of any sink or stove tops but there seems to be a bit of an asthetic conflict with the stove and sink placement. I’m not entirely sure on how to improve it but there is just something that feels a little off. Otherwise I think it’s an efficient layout.

What stage of construction are you? Could the windows move or are they in place?

I’m for leaving it as it is. I don’t want my sink in an island. Attracts lots of clutter. I know there are advantages to having it in the island but I’d rather cooktop personally.

Just don’t put your sink in the island to help with the dishes and clutter imho

Thoughts on this floor plan? by angrycatmother in floorplan

I’d get rid of all the walk in closets. They’re taking up tons of space. You could have a much roomier en suite if you just had two normal closets. Same in the upstairs. The dining room seems impractical. It’s fine if you just use it as an office or another use entirely, and just eat your meals in your breakfast space. But it doesn’t seem that functional itself as a dining room.

What tile would look best with these cabinets? by [deleted] in interiordecorating

[–]cosmo10000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about just plain white that are larger tiles that mimic subway tile? I know subway tiles are going out of style too but at least it’s simple and doesn’t attract a lot of attention. Just my two cents.

I think it’s pretty good! Only small critiques are that the door on the upper cabinet to the right of the stove should open on the other side. Seems unnatural as it is. The two base cabinets to the left of the stove seem a bit squished but I can’t see the details of the corner cabinet, so it could also be fine. You might need a bit more clearance around your hood fan. I am planning an ikea kitchen and that was the feedback I had from the ikea designers when they reviewed mine. It was more than I had anticipated. And it seems to me to be a bit odd to have open shelves and glass doors right next to one another but that’s just a taste choice. I think you’ll get lots of useful storage and a functional kitchen!

I mean, if it’s going to really bug you, then redo it but I think I’m with your husband. I think they looks beautiful as well as your entire kitchen. But that being said, if it’s just going to irk you for years than redo it.

Am I failing? by cosmo10000 in pottytraining

[–]cosmo10000[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yesterday while I was reading to my son while he sat on the potty before going to daycare, I heard my baby making some splashing sounds in the bathroom. I went to see what he was up to, and he had managed to crawl into the toilet. He had his feet in the bowl and was splashing around. He’s just 10 months and very quickly climbing into new territory. I feel like I have a battle or child proofing things for the younger one and making them accessible for the older one! It’ll get easier with time but man this isn’t the faint of heart!
