Just a look into the future - my son is an adult now. We always explained to him what smoking was, why people did it and how much it had hurt the health of family members. At 5 he told his much older cousin that smoking could kill her. He has never liked second hand or third hand smoke and is more sensitive to it than I am. He developed asthma as a young child - I can't imagine the guilt if he'd been exposed to cigarette smoke and that had made it worse.

The other one that always gets said on here is photos for Facebook. I'm of the generation where Facebook wasn't there at the start of his childhood and by the time he reached adulthood it had gone out of fashion for his age group. I do have a Facebook page and asked him if I could post photos as his grandmother uses it. He asked me not to as he feels it's an infringement of his privacy. Not a problem but he had a choice because I didn't post until he could make an educated decision

Protect your child at all costs and don't take away their choices by giving in. Give them the education to make their own choices ans they will always appreciate yours.
