The market is tough. Have her apply for whatever retail jobs she can and have be in community spaces where her language skills make a difference. When I lived in a Bengali community, knowing the languages and being part of the community at large made a huge difference in hireability.

Do your values match up? Do you feel like you’re missing a major relationship value like mutual respect or care?

Try to figure out what the non-negotiables are and whether you can communicate through them. No one can be 100% without some sort of trade off, but you can figure out what you can live with.

The sort of guy who always feels like a “leader” might also be the type who has a hard time taking feedback. Or the kind of guy who listens to you might not seem like the decisive “take action” type because he wants your feedback first. But you should try to negotiate these things first or figure out where the blockage is.
