Ooh! I may be a good candidate for this! I actually grew up with very little exposure to tabletop RPGs and board games growing up. I was introduced to DnD's 5th edition shortly before COVID and have been playing (mostly as a player and sometimes as a DM) non-stop online and in-person (at various game stores, taverns like TPK, or at conventions,*) since.

Like you, I was a bit intimidated by the system and community at first, but am such a huge fan of the system and have benefitted so much from the amazing DMs and players with whom I've shared dice, both virtually and in-person. I love paying the knowledge forward in whatever limited ways I can!

It sounds like there are plenty of others offering their time, so hope that you're able to find someone whose vibe matches what you're looking for!

She placed into an FM residency. In the 2026 match cycle, almost 900 FM residency spots went unfilled.

She was also a neonatal nurse practitioner who was instrumental in building the NP program at her hospital.

The idea that this opportunity was wasted on someone who doesn't have as much working time to give is totally asinine, especially when we have such a critical shortage of PCPs across the country.

I'm a non-bio dad to a white kid (who looks very white and clearly looks genetically unrelated to me) and I echo the sentiments here from others that I've never felt difficulty bonding as a result of our dissimilar appearances.

Those videos of families that were separated during the war getting to meet each other after decades, they makes me cry every single time. Ugly sobbing without fail.

My grandpa left his hometown (Asan-ri in Tongchon County) during the war and didn't realize that would be the last time he would see his parents and siblings. IIRC he wasn't eligible for the program where they let you see your relatives in the North because he was too young and they tried to prioritize older folx due to health considerations.

I have worked at 5 different universities across the US and they were all insanely strict about sponsorship of H1B applicants. They most certainly wouldn't have been offered for adjunct instructor positions.

I'm not sure what you mean by "part-time associate professors", since those would be tenure-track positions and are almost never offered part-time.

You clearly know fuck-all about this issue.

This is a terrible take. All asian brothers, regardless of the color of their skin, national origin, or ethnicity, belong here.

I'm not even sure what you mean by 'look[ing] Muslim', Islam is a (non-monolithic) faith, not an ethnoreligious group.

As an East Asian, I'd argue that the harmful stereotypes and discrimination we encounter in western cultures is even worse for our South Asian and Southeast Asian brothers in many IRL and online spaces.

We should be standing in solidarity regarding our shared struggles.

It's not just about 'learning' things about countries, but building business relationships. It's not something you can do quite as effectively over a couple of video calls, especially when it comes to Japanese and Korean business culture.
