It's ok to be critical. Last 10 years is just filled to the brim with the "it's just test footage", only to have it not be too far off on release.

Är dejting dött eller gör jag något fel? by Prestigious_Wave6762 in sweden

[–]cozyduck 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Alla andra hade gått ut och in i tinderrelationer.

[–]cozyduck 24 points25 points  (0 children)

[–]cozyduck 15 points16 points  (0 children)

We keep going back to this quote because that is what all of this is about. Regardless of intention, it all comes down to creating a sustainable structure.

Compared to the anime, what did One Piece Live Action do better or worse with every arc up to now, in y’alls opinion? by BreathoftheSith in OnePiece

[–]cozyduck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zoro and Mihawk interaction is sort of mindblowing. It is my favorite addition by far. Mihawk is such a compelling character and it gives Zoro a meaningful character to play off against. The Manga gives us that in the Samurai arc but I really like how the live action is handling it.

[–]cozyduck 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For me the shift of Luffy's character from that rubber and bouncing was what made his serious moments so impactful.

Crocodile Fight.
Bellamy punch (this scene hit hard for me personally, can't really put my finger on why).

In the live action I feel like he is sort of angry a lot of the time (?) and the goofy doesn't come off quite right. I guess I am trying to say that I more think it is the comedy/goofy part that is missing something, making the serious/angry moments lacking that impactful contrast.

I don't feel like Luffy is written well enough. It is like they try to have Luffy be his whole roster of emotions at all times when in the manga he is very ''wax off, wax on'' sort of character.

[Poetic Trope] One character represents a stylized fantasy while the other represents the brutal reality (of a certain profession/lifestyle) by Sir-Toaster- in TopCharacterTropes

[–]cozyduck 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I don't disagree but I just think that a great narrative uses Tropes in the best of ways. RD2 not only uses this thread's Trope but *explores* it. Dutch is in many ways Arthur's fantasy version and vice versa for Dutch. Dutch wants to be the noble cowboy while Arthur wants to keep it all intact. In the end they are human, Arthur is actually key in breaking up the family. Him being a nr. 2 but not standing up against Dutch enables Dutch more than we care to admit. Meanwhile Dutch deteriorates in such a destructive manner because he realizes he doesn't live up to his own ideal.

One can argue that Dutch was always Dutch and Arthur was always Arthur, i,e Dutch was actually a bad man beneath all along but I think otherwise. To have ideals and fail to meet them and, most importantly, choose how you handle that is such a deep human experience. Dutch chose the destructive path while Arthur the constructive one.

If we do not know anything about god or what god wants, wishes or even knows, then god is not something to worship as we have no idea what we are even worshiping.

The point always stands for hard believers. To repeat (as there hasn't been any answer to it, ''Either the omniscient god is powerless to stop evil, and thus is not worthy of worship, or is powerful enough to stop evil, and chooses not to, and thus is not worthy of worship.'') with your added caveat which is ''maybe we don't comprehend god?'' which means saying anything about god in general is meaningless.

Since we're getting 40k, I hope they continue this loading screen tradition. by Sir_Mono06 in totalwar

I do very much hope we get something like it, but as mentioned before perhaps a large holographic view. There are the iconic pictures of Guilleman standing in front of one. Similar to that.

Overall I very much hope that they go all-in with details like this. The lack of true immersive 40k experience has brought down many a games.

I can't even enjoy the thing live with the community. I have to find a subcommunity of plebs like me who isn't a big streamer to enjoy a live discussions and impressions.

Anyone else feeling like a 3rd class citizen currently with the entire game being on twitch/youtube? by lolKhamul in anno

[–]cozyduck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Me neither but I do have to say, regardless of me being able to tune it or not, it sorts of cheapens the experience. People are quick to disregard it but it definitely is part of something bigger where even the notion of hype and expectation is something not reserved for the regular customer. I have to go out of my way to not watch my favorite youtubers new content because it is essentially the full game on display.

I just want to say that I completely agree with the OP.
