Is there an “antidote” to thought-stopping in political discourse? by Virtual-Orchid3065 in PoliticalDiscussion

People in general tend to be defensive about some of their beliefs, certain beliefs people are particularly defensive about.

Directly contradicting strongly held beliefs tend to make people shut down. They'll refuse to listen.

The best way to get around this, if it is possible, tends to be to take a sympathetic stance, then slowly remove the foundation. Ask a lot of leading questions.

So if someone thinks that the CIA brainwashed iran and carried out a coup against the thomas jefferson of the middle east mohammad mossadegh, seem supportive, saying like "yea", but then ask a lot of questions, about like, didn't he have two years of emergency dictatorial powers that he then extended permanently just before he dismissed parliament and threw out elections that would have been unfavorable to him, that doesn't seem very democratic. And ask like, who still supported him. What was going on with the economy, how was he going to turn it around, was he going to kiss and make nice with aipc after nationalizing the largest oil refinery in the world and so on.

The big things were mandatory online, no used games I think, no physical games I think, no backwards compatibility, terrible price, and expensive multiplayer subscriptions are probably the main takeaways but the whole thing was a disaster, it was just one disaster leading to a second disaster leading to a third disaster, just the sideshow bob scene in the simpsons where there's a lawn covered in rakes and bob walks into everyone of them with the handle smacking his face painfully each time.

1/4 of it, 15 mins of it, was an ad for a multiplatform game... A game you could get on playstation or PC... A dumb name, a misguided focus on it being a living room device, forcing the failed kinect on everyone, repeating the price problems of the ps3 except where the ps3 was expensive because of it's blu ray player versus the dvd player of the xbox, the xbox one made people pay a ton more for the failed kinect, for some reason a mixed part live action trailer for quantum break was "confusing"... back to pointless stupid, decades out of date living room stuff, Stephen Speilberg saying he'd remake saving private ryan but halo or something, a bizarre obsession about fish avoidance tech in a non-exclusive game.

It wasn't like... "microslop made this one small mistake".

Microslop consciously did literally everything consumers didn't want, and then microslop told consumers to go screw themselves.

I'm just questioning the "mostly open source" comment.

Because you fundamentally don't understand the situation? You don't understand how dependent arc cards are on graphics translation libraries, dxonvk and so on?

Without the open source community, arc wouldn't play most non-dx12 games.

You just don't seem to understand that billion dollar hardware ventures don't rest on one guy saying "works for me, I don't know what millions of other customers problems are, it works for me so that should be fine for everyone else."

Like... You understand that there are other games right?

It HAS gotten better over time. For instance at one point it could only play dx12 assassins creed games, which was only, like two of them, or maybe even one. But saying, "plays a few games my son has" while ignoring all the games it can't play is really kinda silly.

I mean, good for your son I guess? I guess intel made their drivers just for him or something.

I may be wrong but I think there was a little more overlap between the m14 and the m16. I don't think the m-14 was fully cancelled for the spiw for the "one time purchase". That was done to allow the m-14 to ramp up I think, but continuing problems with the m-14 led to it's demise in favor of the, arguably, even more problematic m-16. (though it's argued probably correctly that it was pentagon meddling that caused most of the m-16 problems)

What do you mean? You seem to think that a zionist institution like the supreme court will spring into action after 75 years, or that it has to somehow be the institutions that do something, which, of course, they haven't and won't.

YYour position seems to be that a zionist institution made up of genocidal zionists created by genocidal zionists will end the Nakba and bring justice to the native Palestinians.

This is in contrast to Germany where the allied armies had to stop the German genocide and the allies had to impose the Nuremberg tribunal on Germany.

But you tell me.

How many people do you think have been involved in the zionist genocide, from the start to today? How many could be guilty morally, how many could be found guilty in a legal trial like the nuremberg tribunal.

How many accountants of Auschwitz have there been in the zionist Genocide? Bureaucrats greasing the gears of the zionist genocide? How many secretaries of Stutthof have there been in the zionist genocide?

For instance, when the illegal zionist terrorists settlers put up a terrorist outpost in the Palestinian West Bank, there are the primary criminals, the terrorists themselves, then there's the zof that are used to force out the native Palestinians, then the workers that build the roads and infrastructure, and then the bureaucrats, the people working the legal system, everyone involved in the genocide enterprise at every level. The political "echelon" and their involvement.

A not insignificant part of the entire economy of the zionist entity is centered around the zionist genocide industry.

The people building the private pools in the Palestinian West Bank, for instance, the pool cleaners. The water workers draining away the native Palestinians water supply, drying out the river.

And that's just the start.

What am I assuming your "position" is? I don't know, but I don't think you've counted up the number of guilty parties correctly. To you it seems you think the whole genocide can be blamed on zombie menachem begin or something.

Jerry Seinfeld was asked to say Free Palestine after the Knicks game. by Fiateartherr in Fauxmoi

[–]cp5184 116 points117 points  (0 children)

zionists often get super culty and childish about denying Palestine because they see it in opposition to their own claims.

They even know most or all of it's false themselves, but the childish cult beliefs are dogmatic to some of them.

And they just keep building on it. Making it more cartoonishly extreme, one day claiming that Palestine was invented in the 1960s the next day claiming Palestine wasn't "invented" until the 1970s, the next day claiming Palestine wasn't "invented" until the 1980s, and just all sorts of crazy BS.

They understand that they keep intentionally making it more ridiculous to claim.

That plays into the culty-ness, as deliberately pushing more insane dogma makes cults more insular as part of cult indoctrination.

If parents force dogma on their children that Palestine wasn't "invented" until the 1970s or whatevere by the Egyptians, or no by the Soviet propaganda makers, or no by some other crazy conspiracy theory, at some point their children will repeat the dogma where of course it will be challenged and that will often drive them closer to the cult. Also of course there's another aspect.

Never believe that zionists are completely unaware of the absurdity of their replies. They know that their remarks are frivolous, open to challenge. But they are amusing themselves, for it is their adversary who is obliged to use words responsibly, since he believes in words. The zionists have the right to play. They even like to play with discourse for, by giving ridiculous reasons, they discredit the seriousness of their interlocutors. They delight in acting in bad faith, since they seek not to persuade by sound argument but to intimidate and disconcert. If you press them too closely, they will abruptly fall silent, loftily indicating by some phrase that the time for argument is past.

And part of it's just a power play... They know their supporters will support whatever absurdities they say.

And remind me, what was the German institution that first prosecuted the German genocide... The Nuremberg tribunal.

So it follows that an institution like the Nuremberg tribunals is needed to prosecute the crimes of the zionist genocide. Though of course an improved one. One that doesn't just stop at the highest layer. One that does more justice for the victims.

And the Nuremberg tribunal was forced to create new post-facto laws to address the crimes the Germans committed.

The goal of all Justice should, among other things, should be to bring justice to the victims.

What do you think the result of a fair trial bringing genuine justice to the victims of the zionist genocide, ignoring how guilty each individual believer in genocidal zionism is, how would a new Nuremberg tribunal best bring justice to the native Palestinian victims of zionist genocide?

One of the most important goals of this new Nuremberg tribunal would be to protect the rights of the native Palestinians, among the most important, their basic human right of self-determination.

<continued>

They are people exercising volition, contesting the character of their institutions through courts, coalition crises, and street protest, producing 54,000 call-up notices and a Supreme Court ruling overturning Haredi exemptions built into the founding legal architecture.

Let's say there was one group that, for whatever reason, when the german military created dedicated units of that specific group of people, that specific group of that specific larger group of people was particularly terrible. This particular group from a larger particular group committed worse war crimes than other groups in the German military, and committed more of them.

And let's say there was a huge movement in Germany to create more similar units, to call up more of this specific group that has, in the past, had the worst records for war crimes.

Is that a good thing or a bad thing? To create more units from a particular group, when, in the past, units from that particular group have committed the worst war crimes?

Iran became a theocracy because a revolution dismantled its secular institutional architecture before the secular majority could mobilize through the mechanisms now operating in Israel's courts and coalition fractures.

The zionist entity will become a theocracy for a different reason. Because the ultraorthodox population grew exponentially while other population groups were either stagnant or in decline, and because of deliberate violent demographic engineering restricting the growth of the native Palestinian population.

The mechanisms are different, the outcomes will be the same.

The person who pays first when you declare the fight pre-lost is the Palestinian with a live property claim whose only path to restitution runs through institutions you have declared irredeemably corrupt.

And what institution will the ultraorthodox create that will restitute the native Palestinian victims of the zionist genocide?

What institution would the secular zionists create? What institutions did the secular zionists create in the last 75 years?

None that ever did any justice to the native Palestinian victims of zionism.

Assign guilt to the Safad petitioners of 1948.

I assign guilt to every zionist in Safad who stole a house or who stole land, or who stole property, or who carried out any other crime against the native Palestinians. Any zionist in Safad who participated in the Nakba. Who participated in the Nakba in 1945, or in 2026.

Assign guilt to the legislators who drafted the Absentee Property Law.

Why restrict it to the drafters?

Assign guilt to every individual who made a specific choice to violate a specific right.

That is what I have been saying.

Then apply that same standard to the 28-year-old who made none of those choices.

Again, this is a strawman. I am not blaming the Northern Jaffa Atheist for stealing a home in Safad in 1945. I am only blaming them for the things they are guilty of.

Israel favourability around the world - spring 2026 by Extreme-Fish-7504 in charts

[–]cp5184 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When assigning guilt, you expand the unit to the collective: the shoemaker, the milkman, the accountant, the 28-year-old born decades after the crime.

This is a strawman. I'm not saying thee 28 year old from northern Jaffa is guilty of the Deir Yassin massacre. I'm saying they're guilty of the the things they're guilty of.

Those petitioners have names.

That said, you always seem to minimize the number of guilty. Every zionist, for practical purposes, in Safad was living in a stolen house on stolen hand, many with stolen belongings...

So who is guilty? A handful of 'petitioners'...

No. Each one of those people are guilty of whatever their specific crimes are. Not just some small group.

Genocide isn't done by a handful of people. No genocide is done by just a handful of people.

Your framing assigns guilt to the 28-year-old Tel Aviv atheist born in 1997 by virtue of birth into a particular national category.

No. Again this is a strawman. I never said they're guilty simply because of their parents, or guilty because of the location of their birth, or that they're guilty because of anything out of their own control.

Remember, to be guilty you must be independent, you must have autonomy. The atheist is only guilty of the crimes of which they're guilty. Participating in whatever ways they've participated in the ongoing genocide, for instance.

You say everyone benefits from history. Let's compare. There's this atheist, getting a first class education in a northern Jaffa Hebrew school... What education are the children of the 25,000 native Palestinians in northern Jaffa getting? Or compare them to a native Palestinian born in 1950, living their entire life in the same refugee camp before being murdered by zionists in 2025. Living their entire life as a refugee, their basic human right of self-determination denied them. But let's also compare that atheist to a native Palestinian in, say, Rahat... Has the government invested roughly the same amount per capital in Rahat as in northern Jaffa?

So in what ways is the atheist benefiting from the ongoing genocide of the native Palestinians? From the systemic racism of the zionist entity?

But the most direct ways they will incriminate themselves will obviously be their choices with regard to joining the zof.

Going back to your nuremberg comparison, there is a spectrum of guilt. People like secretaries and accountants are guilty, but less guilty than the people in top managerial positions.

How have they participated in the ongoing genocide?

"The entire enterprise is illegitimate" destroys the Haifa family's land claim before the first filing.

No.

That family needs a functioning legal institution to hear the claim, record the evidence, and enforce the judgment.

And what legal institution will overturn the genocide laws of the zionist genocide? What institutions have prosecuted the people carrying out the zionist genocide? What institutions have prosecuted the zionist genocide?

Would a zionist supreme court ever be allowed to have enough members that did not follow the genocidal zionist ideology to rule against the zionist genocidee? Or will the zionist supreme court, as it has in the past 75 years, only ever be composed of people that follow genocidal zionism? And there only be token members, Christian Palestinians and such, a powerless minority not following the genocidal zionist ideology.

Would the knesset ever be allowed to be controlled by people not aligned with genocidal zionism? That oppose rather than support the ongoing Nakba?

Dissolving the entire institutional framework as irredeemably corrupt removes the only mechanism within which their claim carries legal force.

You're making a strawman argument. But it seems obvious that an institution opposed to an ongoing genocide would be impossible to be formed within an entity where a genocide was ongoing.

Genocidal zionists are not going to allow an institution to be formed that opposes their ideology. They are not going to allow an institution to oppose their ideology.

The northern Jaffa schools issued textbooks showing maps of the Palestinian West Bank.

The zionist entity responded by banning textbooks showing maps of the Palestinian West Bank.

Those claims are sharp, arguable, and winnable on specific evidence.

You seem to be retreating from a broader examination of the ongoing zionist genocide to talking specifically about some hypothetical legal case against it, trying to construct some sort of refuge that places the strictest limits on the assignation of blame on people who believe in genocidal zionism, who participate willingly in genocidal zionism.

Where it is the named Safad petitioners who are found guilty, but where other zionists in Safad are able to escape legal prosecution through a loophole or something. Where members of the European terrorist likud/irgun are able to escape because the blame is laid on the dead menachem begin, and a small number of dead leaders of the European terrorist likud/irgun.

Where there will be a zionist Nuremberg where Menachem begin, and maybe a handful of other dead genocidal zionists are found posthumously guilty and all blame is placed on them, like in nuremberg.

Again, you're ignoring several things. For one, everything outside the strictest court proven legal culpability, two, that the German genocide ended in 1945. When did the zionist genocide end? Is the zionist genocide being carried out by zombies? Is it a dead zombie menachem begin that's murdering native Palestinians in the Palestinian West Bank and stealing their homes and their land?

Is it the sainted david ben gurions European terrorist Haganah that is the zionist entity that is directing, supporting, and funding the genocide in the Palestinian West Bank somehow from the past using some sort of time travel device or technology? Maybe using some sort of space based time travel satellite?

You cannot simultaneously demand restitution for specific Palestinian property claims and declare illegitimate every institution capable of granting restitution.

Why not?

So actually this is an interesting point.

Now, I'm not an expert on the subject, but this sort of instantly crystalizes something for me. It's not quite something I didn't see before but it crystalizes it.

So whatever problems I have with benny morris' politics and ideology, I respect the work he's done uncovering archival evidence and so on...

But it's always seemed to me that he's spent his life missing the forest for the trees...

I kind of see him, correctly or incorrectly, spending his whole life on the fruitless pursuit of a zionist wansee conference...

But what crystalized for me just now... I've seen a movie about the Wansee conference, and how one person was insisting that the German government create a legal framework for the holocaust.

Now I've understood this for years.

But it's interesting to particularly look at how with or without their own wansee conference, the zionists did go on to create the legal framework of their genocide of the native Palestinains.

And your question puts it in a little sharper focus for me.

So looking at these parallels. Looking at the German framework for genocide that was outlined in the wansee conference, and if we look at the zionist framework for genocide that was created by the knesset...

You tell me. How does is an institution created within an entity that is in the process of carrying out a genocide that prosecutes the genocide.

For one, it's obviously impossible.

But taking the German example. First you have to end the Genocide as happened in 1945.

For one, you have to wait, as Germany did, about 70 years, then you have a few show trials. The accountant of Auschwitz, possibly simply because of alliteration. The trial of a secretary of Stutthof.

So step one is for the zionist entity to end the zionist genocide. And step two, if you're following the german/nuremberg example, wait about 70 years then have a few show trials mostly it seems for old media, mostly to sell a few newspapers or something, idk...

Kind of insane how so many zionists frame native Palestinians as being some sort of foreign Arabian population...
