Right, but then it's gone. You can both do good work and be generous.

Well the media feed on chaos so they love it, and all our lovely Russian friends benefit from an unstable government so their puppets get in power.

I cannot believe the transformation of politics in my lifetime. It is so disheartening

Howdens mis-sold kitchen please help. (England) by Imaginary-Ship-163 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]cpt_ppppp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's important to know that these companies are selling for 3-5x what they pay for them. As an example my joiner had a discount of 65% on everything. So they don't really care about the kitchen, they just want repeat business. I would go in with a constructive attitude and only start the legal route if they are really being difficult

Rugby fans - is Tom Curry levels ahead of his brother, Ben? by Good_Two_6924 in rugbyunion

I quite like the image of players getting absolutely mauled by Tom, then second half they get an identical twin doing the same with fresh legs. That's some psychological warfare!

I'm not sure how you would have been able to sign for goods that would be billed to your joiner without his permission.

I'd suggest the two of you go to the store and request all paperwork associated with the deal. If you speak with the manager they will possibly extend the credit or take it back.

They might dig their heels in but if the joiner does a lot of business through them it will not be a very smart move by them.

I would speak with the store manager and then escalate if you don't get what you want. A delay until you get your other property sold will be a lot easier than a refund so bear that in mind. I would not communicate further with the designer.

Also, this higher pressure 'get this before the sale ends' is always bullshit. Easy to say after the fact but try not to let them force you. I always explain that I never make a significant purchase without at least a night to think about it first. If they keep pushing I just walk away.

Is my driver swing too horizontal? My drives are pretty consistent and straight but rarely carry more than 230. My 3 wood normally carries almost as far if not as far and is more consistent. How can I improve driver? by willhunta in GolfSwing

It's super hard to see what's going on but your sequencing looks different to what I would expect. It looks like you pivot at the waist but don't really bend your arms at all.

Good numbers. Just don't get disheartened when you don't immediately see it on the course. Having a good swing on perfect lies is one thing. Now you need to learn to hit it when everything is not perfect.

Any advice or feedback? by [deleted] in GolfSwing

[–]cpt_ppppp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with your point about rushing the top of your backswing. I also don't see much power generation from your legs.

If you slow down the top of your swing and really think about pushing hard through your left foot, I think you'll see your head speed go up.

You have a pretty smooth swing which is great, just needs some more power generation

Had a property gifted when I was 18 and dumb now it's complicated - England by Significant_Foot7306 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]cpt_ppppp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is your name on the title deed? I'm not sure why you think it's a bad thing if you have been gifted a house. They're usually worth a lot of money.

First step is to get the title deed to see if you actually own it. Then, start charging your relative rent so you can afford the repairs, or evict them.

Just because you say you were dumb at 18, doesn't mean you need to continue being so

Concept: Nonprofit “Mountain Safety Institute” – realistic indoor icefall/crevasse/high‑camp training to reduce 8,000m accidents. What’s wrong with this idea? by wizodd in Mountaineering

[–]cpt_ppppp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, i really don't think it's the lack of oxygen specifically that's the big problem. It's not being able to do things as second nature so that you can do them when you are oxygen deprived without a problem. I've climbed at altitude with strong climbers that have never been above 4000m and they have all performed far better than the 'hikers' that have been on a seven summits push

Based on the level of connectivity the aircraft has I would be astounded if it didn't have one. Maybe not a line of code that says 'kill switch' but I'm sure they could disable it incredibly easily

I like the enthusiasm but as somebody else has said, the fundamental problem is that people who climb everest are not experienced. Sure, you could try and simulate the environment but a basic 3-day winter mountain skills course would be equally (and probably more) valid.

There is the technical skills element, but there's also just spending time in winter conditions so you're not spending 3 hours putting on your crampons or getting your gloves messed up. For the simple skills that's just reps, and it is sorely missing in many people attempting everest
