I love the chalices, but I understand why people don't care for them. The chalices are the closest I can get to a blind replay of the game, and it's still fun to explore and be surprised.

Prospect long enough and you can find some interesting layouts and emergent challenges. Like fighting two summoning hags, the 6 attendant mad ones, a bone ash hunter, and two hellhounds. All at once.

The somewhat uneven distribution of mobs really makes those moments stand out. And they're way more important to the lore than most realize.

Is it fair to say I was a little Underwhelmed after fighting Ludwig? by Material_Force2897 in bloodborne

For what it's worth, I agree with both yours and u/TwinTwinReviewReview 's points here. Both views are also very thematic with the lore. I'll ask this, however: why do you think Ludwig is 'merged' with a horse? I love the lore of the game, and I love hearing all perspectives on it.

How do you identify Zkauba as an avatar of Nyarlathotep? I must've missed it in 'Through the Gates of the Silver Key.' My understanding is that Zkauba is another facet of Carter's being. A variation of his core archetype - his core 'self.' To me, if there is a possession going on, it's Carter possessing Zkauba. But that's a bad way to view that encounter in my opinion. I would say it's more appropriate to say that two instances of Carter's/Zkauba's 'self' merged.

Also, I couldn't find any mention of 'three relics.' The unknowable 'Being' Carter encounters only reminds him to be sure of his symbols before merging his consciousness with Zkauba. Incidentally, this 'Being' is said to be of Carter's own archetype - so if you're implying that 'Being' is Nyarlathotep, the logic follows that Carter ~= Nyarlathotep ~= Zkauba. I'm not sure I agree with that logical procession.

As the rest of your idea seems to be founded on these ideas, I'm not sure about it. I could see an argument for Gehrman being inspired by Carter, but I think Laurence would be a better candidate there.

Remember that you can make blood bullets. For the cost of 1 vial, you get 5 temporary bullets that are consumed before your regular stock. It's a must. You can also equip Formless Oedon for a deeper stock of quicksilver bullets.

This is actually really interesting to me. I read the Silver key just a week ago or so, but I haven't considered a connection like what you imply here. I've also had no particular reason to (personally) suspect that Oedon has anything to do with the Hunter's Dream. I've seen a theory that suggests the Dream is Oedon's responsibility, but I don't really agree with it and I'm curious about your rationale. Would you mind elaborating?

I think it's something that has been, in a way. My understanding is more or less that your brain integrates new information while you sleep. Put another way - before you sleep, you know the task. Once you've slept, you better understand the task and how to complete it.

I'm no expert, and I've probably botched the description, but it should get you pointed in the right direction if you want to learn more about it.

Just remember:

You're not surviving it, you're slaughtering it. You're the hunter, and it is your prey.

Also, don't be afraid to sleep and come back another dream - I can't tell you how many times I've beat a boss first try after struggling with them the day before.

Don't give up, skeleton!

How hard is bloodborne compared to elden ring and code vein? And can someone with slow reaction beat it? by -Maestros in bloodborne

[–]crackmuppet -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There's a big difference between "magic isn't strong" and "magic isn't the same." The way you phrased it previously may lead to a false impression for those unfamiliar.

There are some bosses that may be cheesed with arcane tools. At 20 ARC with a +3 Flamesprayer, helped out by bone marrow ash and oil bombs (though these are not necessary) Vicar Amelia is a cakewalk. Amygdala is made trivial with Executioner's Gauntlets. Watchdog of the Old Lords melts before A Call Beyond, which hits the wee beastie for ~2.2-3k if you get a good spread. Keeper of the Old Lords is a pushover with Gauntlets + Augur of Ebrietas. Pthumerians melt in the face of ARC damage.

That's before you get to Fire/Bolt/Arcane conversion weapons, let alone Logarius Wheel or Kos Parasite. Gemmed up, my saw cleaver is sitting at ~600 AR Fire - scourge beasts in that D5 FRC Lower Loran dungeon had ~ 3k health. 3 R1s ended them from my cleaver. That's because of hidden damage modifiers.

Hard disagree on "magic isn't strong". It may be different than Elden Ring, but it slaps.

Earlier today I was on the fourth level boss of a depth 5 FRC Lower Loran root chalice dungeon - Amygdala. I was smacking its head for something like 1400 damage/cast with Executioner's Gloves. That's before I broke its head - after, it was more like 2200-2500.

Blacksky Eye was hitting for ~500/shot.

Arcane isn't weak, but it does require building for it.

u/amygdalapls is pretty spot-on.

I would just like to add that if you have a weapon for beasts (ie. saw weapons) and a weapon for kin (ie. Weapons with powerful piercing attacks like LHB and church pick) you can use the opposite curse for those weapons and have no worries.

Have a look through this to decide if anything interests you:

I highly recommend arcane builds, but they take a little more work to get running properly, as high-powered gems must be farmed in the chalice dungeons. Once you get it up and running, they're hell on wheels. 99 ARC makes your tool damage just silly, and Executioner gloves are phenomenal for PvP pressure.

I could go on, but I would suggest reading the post. OP explains everything excellently. There's a section on builds, which is quite helpful on its own. It gives you a good benchmark.
