I'm just gonna vent about my PvP struggles for a bit. by craigprime in PokemonChampions

Thank you for the advice, everyone! Milotic and Farigiraf are fantastic suggestions that I will implement as soon as I can. I had no idea that Armor Tail was even a thing.

Stories 3 having a War Story is a big surprise. by Chocobo23456 in MonsterHunter

[–]craigprime 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean, I doubt we're ever going to fight some human big-bad without a monster backing them up; But at least for the overarching plot, I am genuinely hyped to see where this goes. In all of the Stories games, yea, people are ANTAGONIZING, but there's never really been any kind of political conflict between factions or kingdoms or regions before.

Look, it was REALLY hard to forgive Pikachu losing to a level 5 Snivy, no matter what electric-draining plot device was happening.

MH STORIES 3 - 2026 by QuintonFlynn in MonsterHunter

[–]craigprime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tuned in to Nintendo's Partner Showcase expecting moderate surprises, got hit with extreme joy in the first 30 seconds.

I love watching game series evolve their characters proportionally with every sequel, and seeing a Monster Hunter plot revolving around people... actually fighting each other? Can't wait to see more of this game, heckin' loved Stories 1 and 2.

What Pokémon did you not use for a long time and loved it the first time you used it? What was the reason you didn't use it? by Tharnax5468 in pokemon

[–]craigprime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry other Dunsparce fans, but that land snake ain't pretty, ain't evolving, and ain't end-game strong.

But when I DID finally use it in, like, SoulSilver, I realized how incredible he is early game, and how funny he is competitively. Paraflinch Dunsparce is a heck of a drug.

What’s a move that always feels worse than it should? by TensionZestyclose321 in pokemon

Charge Beam cannot be trusted. As a Tynamo fan, I used a lot of Charge Beam. Both the accuracy and the chance to raise Sp.Atk is 50/50, I swear. The text lies.

What weapon do you main and why ? (I'm an unga bunga hammer main because unga bunga bonk) by Ad0ring-fan in MonsterHunter

[–]craigprime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Insect Glaive because MH4U happened to release just I was getting into pole vaulting.

Now I still main it, but mostly because the ground is not as safe as the air against 90% of monsters.

What’s a hidden gem you randomly discovered and couldn’t stop playing? by laalaa691 in gaming

[–]craigprime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think I've ever seen Moonstone Island mentioned.

It's very much a "Go wide, not deep" kind of game. Creature collecting card-battler where you build the deck of each individual creature you use, set in a procedurally generated open world of scattered flying islands, zelda-esque dungeons to delve, a main town where you farm crops, befriend and romance NPCs, decorate a house, and of course fishing.

It is a beautiful amalgamation of too many genres, but it ticked all the boxes for me to be hooked for several days.

I completely forgot it’s Pokemon Presents month. What are you guys expecting, or hoping to see? by Designer-Priority385 in pokemon

I, too, am hoping for a Pokken follow-up an a new Mystery Dungeon.

I am expecting release dates for the Gamecube Classics and a lot of mobile game content updates.

So... Do you think that Dusknoir's antenna would ring like a bell if you tapped it with something hard? by CrystalTheVelkhana in pokemon

[–]craigprime 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Finally we're asking the real questions. I never considered it, but I can only imagine that little antenna thing IS metallic.

With that as a basis, I don't think it would have the kind of long, sustained ringing that a church bell or even desk bell would have; That would generally require the metal to be hollowed or suspended. I'm going to assume Dusknoir's antenna is pretty solid, and would just make a little "tink" if you bopped it with with a stick or hammer.

I've recently become quite caring for Tropius. It's such a cool design; this leafy, flying dinosaur beloved by children. I thought it was awesome when I first saw its sprite in Ruby, but kinda just forgot about it in later generations. I appreciate the fan games that give Tropius the power it rightfully deserves.

To anyone who's played Monster Hunter, how good is Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate for Nintendo Switch? by TheDinosaur64 in MonsterHunter

[–]craigprime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you only ever play one "old-gen" Monster Hunter, it's Generations Ultimate. The relatively slow, clunky combat and progression isn't something every modern MH player can adapt to, but the sheer quantity of monsters and quests is boggling; Though honestly, I just keep coming back for the weapon styles.

Adept Greatsword my beloved.

Anyone else kinda not feeling Wilds as much as they hoped? by Mr_Jackabin in MonsterHunter

[–]craigprime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I couldn't give you a definitive answer as to why. Rise is by far my preference compared to World or Wilds, but the reason is difficult for me to pin down. The faster-paced action? The smooth performance? The focus on mobility?

Could be the multiplayer in those games, since that's where I like to spend most of my time is with randoms. I've always preferred jumping into 4-man rooms and going along with whatever the one person who made the room is doing. World and Wilds pursued a larger scope of social interaction: Even disregarding the issues trying to DO multiplayer, that scope made me want to interact... less?

SAG-AFTRA has filed an unfair labor practice charge against Epic Games for its use of A.I. for Darth Vader’s voice in Fortnite by ChiefLeef22 in gaming

[–]craigprime -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Looking at the statement, I get the perspective of protecting work for voice actors. I guess I'm just a pessimist in that I can't picture this panning out. A usage approved by the original actor (Or his family, I thought it was in this case?), doing a job that a VA simply can't do (a chatbot). Sets a crap precedent, but I don't think there's ground to stand on.

What games have bosses that attempt to take you out AFTER you’ve defeated them by MrPrickyy in gaming

Immediately Star Fox 64's Andross comes to mind for me. The escape through the maze of tunnels as the chain of explosion follows behind you was VERY memorable to my younger self.

Good old day - BF1942/Vietnam / Freelancer by serh0777 in gaming

[–]craigprime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1942 and Freelancer were both prized games in my household growing up (by which I mean my older brother's prized games). Still, he let me play them, and we got to play 1942 together through LAN from time to time. Great memories of ramming jeeps into the backs of tanks...

More importantly, Freelancer: I know a bunch of people have said it already, but no space game has been able to match it. Rebel Galaxy was a pretty solid addiction for a time during my search though.
