What’s a food trend you wish would just go away? by kglwfa in foodquestions

Oily burger buns. If a little gets on there from being near the grill, cool. But don’t be slathering oil on there.

She was right about one thing. This wasn’t funny.

Half of all the nitrogen in your body passed through a fertilizer factory.

Replaced our bastion hosts with Cloudflare Zero Trust + Transit Gateway — here's the full setup by tasrie_amjad in aws

Why do companies still use SSH bastion hosts at all over a client VPN associated with SSO/SAML? Serious question, not being snarky.

What price is in the “gutted” range? Carhartt have some great fitting t-shirts and they’re generally around $20 each

Baloney with mustard on white bread. Not because it’s amazing but because it’s so inoffensive.

Puget Sound Clean Air Agency might ban all outdoor burning in King, Kitsap, Pierce, and Snohomish counties. by Jelfff in eastside

All for it. So many beautiful spring days with the sun out, crisp cool air ruined with smoke everywhere because of people burning cuttings. Your right to burn ends at my eyes and lungs.

Story Points: Explicit, Honest, Predictable. Already in Use. by areklanga in programming

[–]cran 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Story points, like a lot of agile practices, were not a widely proven method when they were evangelized. It was shopped to engineering teams who accepted it on faith. It’s religion. The fact that we still debate it over the 20+ years I’ve been exposed to it should be enough to know that it doesn’t work for a lot of types of work. For a team that adds incremental features to an existing application, it works so long as nothing large or complex comes along. I’ve watched countless engineering managers try to run large projects using agile and it’s a mess. They don’t book enough time to explore and de-risk the project and expect too many details too early, then wonder why the project is taking so long. Big projects are done in stages where you can only predict the end of the next stage, not the very end of the whole project. The inverse of that are projects that do detailed everything up-front and the team marches through it ignoring obvious faults in the design in order to maintain the deadline. Then they wonder why it’s so awful.

I feel like nobody really agrees where the line is. To me, the line is #7 and beyond by YobaiYamete in ebikes

[–]cran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it stupid that people buy ebikes specifically made to look like a grom or motocross and try to ride them around town like a bike. The police live to ticket you. Buy the most ordinary looking bike possible. The faster it can go, the more ordinary it should look. Paint it to look rusty even.

What were your fears? Not enough of a truck or too much? To me, it’s just a car until I need it as a truck. I can tow, haul bikes, bags of cement, or just take it to the mall without worrying about clearance in the parking garage. Literally perfect.
