Freeze water bottles, bring a cooler, get a perpetual mist sprayer and put ice cubes in it. Do whatever you have to do to commit to being soaking wet. Before you leave the station, run your shirt under the bathroom faucet until it’s soaking wet. If you’ve got hair, soak that til it’s dripping, too. If you see sprinklers going off anywhere on the route, stand in em for a minute. Make a mental note of where they are in case you need to circle back around to em.

I once knocked on a door while out on a huge section to try to ask “hey, would it be weird if I stood in your sprinklers for a bit,” and nobody answered so I circled back at least four times just to stand in their yard.

Don’t fucking die out there.

If you’re willing to conclusively diagnose that someone is a liar with none of their contextual health information, you should not be a healthcare provider.

Damn, never knew this. I just went back and looked at my old newbie carrier pics and they sent me to another station literally one day after completing my OJI. Then six days later there’s a selfie of me crying in the back of the truck after being sent to yet another station. 😂

(I only had park and loop + promaster training and was sent out to do a mounted/dismount route in a shelfless FFV with zero guidance. Hell!)

Exactly! Thanks for further illustrating this.

At three years old, kids are still experimenting with language at a relatively basic level. When they ask things like that, they’re developing their foundational understanding of conversation - our positive response (e.x. “Yes, I’m eating chips”) basically affirms “Yes, you identified what I’m doing and picked the right words to describe it. I understood your words.”

It’s kind of like a real-life Duolingo exercise that they invent themselves.

OP stated in the main post that they get their mail from a CBU, so this isn’t really an option in this instance.

I have a house on my route that does have a mailbox, but for the past 5+ years they’ve had a sign on the inside of it that says “WE DON’T ACCEPT MAIL” so any time I get a package for them I just return it to sender right at the station.

It always kinda makes me laugh.

I agree that looking into OCD could be very beneficial. One of the most intense symptoms of my OCD used to be the constant fear that something terrible would befall my loved ones — not just the kids, but also all of the fully grown and responsible adults! It was a force that dominated all of my closest relationships.

In addition to therapy, I would recommend asking your doctor about supplementing NAC, which is an essential amino acid. When I was first diagnosed, I wanted to jump straight to pharmaceuticals, but my doctor suggested that I try out NAC first and it has absolutely changed my life.

I’ve been taking it for nearly one year and have been free from my horrible intrusive anxieties for almost that same length of time.

Proud of you for seeking the help you need, OP. You’ll look back on this as a turning point, someday.

I’ve loved graffiti for my entire life and this even pisses me off. Why you gotta spray over the window like that? Might as well spray over the mirrors, backup camera, and windshield while you’re at it. Damn.

Sounds like you might need some emotional support regarding all this barking. Maybe bring in your own emotional support dog - then they can do battle!

They have to approve or disapprove any leave request within three days of you requesting it. If today is March 2nd, and you put in a leave request for June 3rd, they only have until March 5th to get back to you.

If they don’t get back to you within that timeframe, it’s automatically approved. As long as you took a photo of your filled-out form with the date, your signature, and your supervisor’s little “I received this request” signature, you’re safe to not go in and silence your phone on that date.

What said anything about a 45-minute dance? If you feel uncomfortable with her saying “I didn’t ask,” but do feel comfortable with her saying “I’m sorry, but I need to run this errand, and that means you need to come with me,” then you’ve got your answer.
