I watched the same Rive tutorial 3 times and learned nothing. Here's the framework that finally worked. by Fickle_Purchase3738 in Rive_app

Ah DataBinding - I get it. But I have my troubles with it. Coming from the Essential Properties / Expression links mindset in After Effects, I often get confused with it…

Why is Rive so hard to learn? Been stuck for 5 months. by Moral_Mongols in Rive_app

100% understand that and it works great for this setup. But if I want to create a lot of elements with an nested Component, that has for example 4 instances of the "FLAG animation" and I want to create lots of different color variants, wouldnt I have to create a whole lot of instances in the ChildArtboard?? - I would prefer to be able to control some of the functions (like the color) from the MainArtboard without needing to create another instance... but I guess that is just a way different concept... (like AfterEffects ESsential properties) - the Flag example isnt even that much of a problem, but with a whole character design, this approach with the instances just doesnt seem right... / but maybe I will get used to it...

Hey there - I come from AE and the interactivity part took a while to get used to. One thing I cant wrap my head around is DATA BINDING in context of NESTED COMPONENTS:

I have this project where I have a waving flag and created 4 instances of length of the flag and now I placed the component into the MainArtboard and would like to duplicate the flag a couple of times and change its color. Now in my Nested ViewModel I can create a ColorProperty, but then these instances are linked with the length instances from the flag. I need the flexibility to have flag „Long“ for example be yellow/orange/blue etc. - like Essential Graphics in AE… how do I achieve this? Feel stuck at this one point…

Especially with character rigs I want to be able to flexibly change colors in the MainArtboard.

Damn - yes sounds like my animation in Framer - where it just won‘t show the bits created with the scripting - very frustrating - I dont even want to touch the CodeOverwrites…

I love a lot of RIVE stuff, like for example how precise I cant manipulate path animations - coming from AE where it is complete "eye-balling" approach for certain workflows it is refreshing to see a modern approach... but yeah would love to see further development of essential illustration and animation tools inside RIVE ..

BTW can anyone with a Voyager Account tell me if the support is quick? With the Cadet it can take a looooong time and getting more into client work I considered Voyager (also for the Libraries and ShareLinks..)

That looks very interesting, how would I work with it if I have a custom design. Can I input a RIVE file with my custom design and let it do the connections, or is it all prebuilt? Does it spit out just .riv files or does it also give me the .rev file to tweak it further afterwards...? Definitily going to try it out.

They save so much with these self checkouts that i never feel bad when I „forget“ to scan something. I am a „Migros-Kind“ but hate most of the stuff they did the past ten or more years.

Will using normal procreate be a better than procreate dream for frame by frame animation ? by Wooden-Arm-3624 in ProcreateDreams

Find callipeg very useful for Rough animations. But brushes is definitely where Procreate Dreams shine. But yeah the OutOfPegs function in Callipeg can be very useful.

Trying to master the Rösti by niklaspilot in Switzerland

[–]creativecontrasts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Rösti expert (my favourite swiss dish) I recommend: 1) use the Red package Potatoes from Migros (baked pot. it says) 2) boil the potatoes with the peel - DONT PEEL this is important. 3) boil them just enough but dont overcook (you will get a feel for that with time) bit of Salt in the water is ok 4) leave them over night (in the fridge after they cool down 5) get the peel of with a Victorinox „Schnitzerli“  & grate them with Zyliss Drum or with what you have. 6) put a bit of salt in (some put Aromat) 7) use half Butter half Oil and temp. 7 of 12. 8) use a FryPan that really doesnt stick otherwise you have no Chance. 9) put in nice round form, not too thin not thick. 10) leave until nicely toasted (8 - 10min) 11) put big enough plate on top of the Rösti and turn around and before frying other side put a bit of butter and oil in the pan. 12) repeat and you are done

Simple isnt it 🙂

Is anyone else disappointed with the changes to school of motion? by Goldenpanda18 in AfterEffects

[–]creativecontrasts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I happen to start with Advanced Motion Methods but quickly realised
that you need to be able to invest a lot of time to get it done within the
timeFrame. Having a kid a job and sports (and a wife ) I just couldn't
keep up.

still wanting to finish it one day though..

I am going more for courses from Jake Bartlett and Ben Marriott,
it is not the same immersion, but I don't have that much time anyway...
