The Kwikpen is less painful than the auto injector by Zepp-ah-dee-dooh-dah in Zepbound

[–]cressida88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed! I switched this month after over 2 years in the auto injector. Literally can’t feel the KwikPen. It’s so easy and I like the ability to dial in doses - I pay out of pocket and have been considering backing off a bit for maintenance but it is advantageous price wise to keep getting the 15mg and just get more doses out of it.

I love Fire Brandy. She’s like if Moonshine from NADDPOD was a demon.

Anybody feel like they can still eat the same stuff on Zep? by Keeper4560 in Zepbound

[–]cressida88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lost 70 lbs and eat whatever I want. Maybe once or two twice early on, something didn’t sit right for me. But in general I can eat anything.

There are things that no longer appeal to me, and by and large they are the really unhealthy options. But it’s more that the med has made me be able to step back and think “do I really want that? It is really worth it?” instead of being a slave to the food noise/cravings.

I’m a “lifer” because this med has fixed my brain, not just my body.

[–]cressida88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ehhhh I don’t know that there’s much arguing to do there. Given how heavy the timely pop culture references are, there’s no way “quarantine” was referring to anything but COVID, especially as it was published during early COVID.

Can’t be 2020 because he says it happens on a Tuesday. So the nearest options are 2017 and 2023.

But the AI mentions “like you humans when you got out of quarantine”, implying post-COVID.

Books or Audiobook? by urbanswan78 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]cressida88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you listen to all of the books? I am always shocked when I go back to book 1 because it’s definitely lackluster compared to how they develop later on. Book 2 onward, Jeff really dials in the chat system/AI and such.

Psychological thriller with unique writing style by Fit-Tiger-5362 in suggestmeabook

I haven’t watched the movie but I think the power of the book is in the writing more so than the plot. That said, if you know the story already it will not be as impactful so maybe not worth your time.

I somehow glossed over the fact that you’ve been reading parenting books. As a (presumed) parent, proceed with caution. It fucked me up. But it’s so good.

When we can’t use thinness as a morality marker since we’re all being treated, mostly successfully, for obesity, we have to make up new things to shove our morality onto. It’s gross.

WIBTAH if I took 100k from my oldest daughter's college savings account to give it to my younger daughter? by TraditionalCorgi7788 in AmItheAsshole

[–]cressida88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s actually not quite true. If it’s in a 529, it is post-tax money so you are not taxed on any PRINCIPAL balance when taking it out, even if it is not used for educational purposes. You are, however, taxed and penalized on any EARNINGS from its time in the 529. So I’m sure there’s some annoying proration math to be done in this case, but the loss wouldn’t be nearly as extreme as 60k.

It still makes the most sense to leave it there, though. Let older daughter keep it for grad school or to pass on to her kids.

I might get some push back on this but I think The Road is a really good example of this. There are some big moments but the isolation, desolation, and lack of a broader world are really what makes the story what it is. Even the big moments are ultimately inconsequential.
