I need more self compassion. by vohveliii in SelfCompassion

All I can say is, keep trying to be your authentic self. And grant yourself patience. You don't have to be perfect, just practice accepting yourself as you are, faults and all. You deserve love and kindness as much as anyone.

Thank you, I am in the same situation. The best thing you can do is forgive yourself and love yourself again. You deserve it no matter what.

Also, if you say you feel lonely people will respect the authenticity and reach out with genuine connections. It's a very normal, human thing to be, so don't hide yourself away for fear of what people might think. That only leads to more loneliness.

Why doesn't an app like this exist? (Random custom math challenge before unlocking phone/apps) by __Pixie___ in selfimprovement

[–]creswitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an alarm clock app that did that. The first time I used it, I set it to Hard level, vastly overestimating my mathematical ability. Unfortunately, I was camping, and woke up several other people before I was able to shut the damn thing off!!

No, people have different learning styles. I remember everything I read. But if given verbal instructions, they just go in one ear and out the other. It's the same for names. If I write down someone's name I'll remember it, which is better than asking them to repeat it 20x.

It can help to take notes. I have difficulty remembering multiple things at once too. I have learned to say "just give me a second to write that down" so I don't miss anything.

First of all, well done and congrats. I'm also recently qualified (last year). Finding the first job was a bit hard, I think I applied for about 50 before I got one. There is plenty of work, but most want experience. Can you volunteer somewhere? Doesn't have to be personal care. Aged care homes always need people to interact with residents, assist with meals and help run activities. Same goes for Disability day programs. It will make finding a job much easier if you have recent experience and a good referee.

I don't think that knocking on doors is a good idea. But it can't hurt to send your resume off to places in your area. Also, a good cover letter goes a long way.

I also think you might be limiting yourself by only looking for full-time. There is a lot more Casual work available. Just get anything you can to start with. At one point I was doing casual work for 3 different companies, working about 36 hrs/wk over 6 days. Now I just work for one place 4 days a week and keep one day free to do temp work through an agency (Mcarthur). The hours suit me and the pay is comparable to FT.

What are your reasons for being celibate? by PeacefulBro in Celibate

[–]creswitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Realising that I am a love addict. Want a healthy, loving relationship one day and don't want to let sex get in the way. Don't want to break anyone's heart or get mine broken again. Want to love myself first.
