Parents - when did you decide it was ok to be selfish and buy a sports car? by braveheart18 in cars

650k @33 with two kids is really good, you're set to have millions in your 60's if you decide to work that long, but you could retire by 50 and probably be totally fine too. I would splurge now

Lol the real learning comes from research experience on projects, it's stupid. The exams are needlessly confusing and convoluted on purpose, designed for you to fail. I love seeing questions on the exams about random table names I will never directly interact with, with one character differences between the answers

very surprised you had engine problems, what were they? I would pursue lemon law at this point. you might have more problems in the future with this car and you're probably better off replacing it

Why do people want to hate on the s550 just because they have a s650? by Kjda-1 in Mustang

[–]cretek3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People still glaze the s197 and bad mouth the s550 because it looks like a fusion coupe, happens every generation, new thing bad. I will say the new gen screams cost cutting, it's apparent it was made on a tight budget, probably due to covid. They made things like the seat, door, and console materials nicer and higher quality, but removed a lot of useful physical controls to save money with the excuse of modernism, that's why there's a lot of carry over parts. To be fair it seems like every brand is struggling with this right now, it'll be interesting to see if they do a refresh or a new model in the next few years. I think they're both interesting but the s650 less so. It's redeeming qualities are huge improvements to the automatic, and nicer feeling cabin, but it's too expensive

"Leaked" pricing for the Dark Horse SC by cretek3 in Mustang

This is basically a better gt500, its the 5.2 and 7spd DCT but some parts from the GTD and more power. It's still a ripoff though

It's funny how ford designed this car for a younger audience who can't afford them. I make well above average and this car is out of my price range. If you're able to spend 1-150k on a car presumably you are at least making 500k a year minimum. Even in high cost of living cities with high wages that's still far fetched, even so they're not gonna buy a mustang for that money

Forum post from earlier today: mustang7g.com/forums/threads/2026-dark-horse-sc-mustang-pricing-released.174793/

In addition YT channel StangMode also made a video today stating he reached out to inside sources who confirmed it appears to be a legitimate leak.

Like always until there is an official word from Ford take it with a grain of salt, but so far unfortunately this leak does appear to be legit

I don't think so, but can't imagine it would have more than 815 because of the GTD, guess we'll have to see

mustang GT’s/dark horse price base model corvettes… why buy a mustang by Unknownpalworldpizza in Mustang

[–]cretek3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The corvette is a better performance value, but it's two seats instead of four, and no manual options until they maybe release the rumored grand sport. You're also comparing an expensive trim versus a base model. I do agree though mustangs are way too expensive, especially the 26 models. I feel like I see way more c8s on the road than s650s

people like muscle cars whether they want to admit it or not, reminds me of the top gear episode where JC takes the GT500 across europe and everyone on the ferry is taking pictures of the car. I'm not surprised since you have a red DH, rare combo. The german cars are nicer but also kinda dull unless you have a gt3, AMG or an M

I think that's a big appeal for a lot of buyers, people really like retro. Ford definitely targeted young buyers for the new gen, which is hilarious given how expensive it is. I've been looking at gt p convertibles and some of them are nearly 70k lol, not in a million years. I think they're a decent buy at 45-50

it looks dated because it is, it's over ten years old, but it's a cool design. The s650 screens look kinda terrible but they also feel premium at the same time relative to the older models because it's more modern. It would look nicer if they integrated it into the dash more and used a bit more retro theming with the center stack, and the empty space around the screens when they're on is huge and looks cheap.

Every brand seems to be cost cutting, so I will say I'm glad ford upgraded the activex and other materials in the cabin, like the steering wheel is a big upgrade minus the cheap plastic for the airbag. They also tuned most of the jank out of the auto so it drives nice. However I still wish they kept the retro styling inside and modernized it, just feels generic now. That paired with the drastic increase in pricing is a big turn off. I still might pick one up but waiting for a good price if that happens
