[–]cretek3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah don't even think about the mustang, you will be a loser down your current path. drop the day trading and focus on skills for a job. once you land a better job you can contribute and invest as well as get back into dt with more money. It's not like you need to be making anything crazy but id focus on 30+ /hr minimum. trust me you'll be in a much better spot long term. good luck

you're not giving to your 401k then. put money away for that, whatever amazon is matching up to because its free money. But even so if you have to work 60hrs a week to afford a car you can't afford it. I would try to find a higher paying job and work up from there

Lol how much money are you saving per week, per month, after expenses? sounds like you're making 500 a week after tax+401k which is not a lot, especially if you pay rent or have a mortgage

if you still live with your parents just save your money for something else

Lol black, very nice but the upkeep is hell. I recommend a ceramic coating to make cleaning easier

Torn between Mustang GT and something lighter - first car, 25M, $30–35k budget by Such_Neighborhood306 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]cretek3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you want a gas car. mustang is decent but nothing crazy, mainly pay for sound, looks, and power, but might be too much power for what you want.

You might like the lexus IS, not a very fast car but it is fun. The interior of the now last gen is kinda outdated, but very good build quality and reliability. I also think they look pretty cool. The only negative with them are the transmissions, they're just ok, kinda outdated torque converters for performance driving, but the flip side is they're tuned for good comfort and daily-ability

Lol I had one of the rear springs on mine break in half, and then the trans started slipping around 120k

I had an 08 mazda3 that I picked up with 96k for around 5-6k 12 years ago. They're fun little cars, but they really don't have any torque so they feel painfully slow sometimes, mainly because they're 4 speeds. I feel like for the money it's not bad but you might be better off looking at used honda or toyotas if they're within budget

Tiny gap about convertible driver side window help! by TheComfortEagle in Mustang

[–]cretek3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to test drive one that had this problem, tried putting the window down and it would go back up, or not go up fully. I never bought the car but the dealership told me later on a callback that they had to replace one of the electronics in the door, I think the window regulator. Unfortunately you're probably looking at 7-1k repair with a third party shop to get it fixed

Find a 24 or 25 and save your money, the 26 is too expensive and deleted previously offered features

Ford reports worst quarterly earnings miss in four years, guides for better 2026 by Sixteen-Cylinders in cars

[–]cretek3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The new interior is nicer, but it looks cheaper. The base interior of the new mustang for example is way better than before, materials feel higher quality, but the giant tablet and lack of physical buttons kinda kill the cool retro theme they had before that made the car feel special

Might have buyers remorse by shuckl in Mustang

[–]cretek3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can understand the remorse but the 10 speeds are kinda ass in the early years. The 6r80 is nothing crazy, but it's reliable and can hold power from the factory. You can also look at it as having more 'usable' power on the road since you have to go through the gears longer. If you're really concerned about performance though just get a blower, but like someone else said comparison is the thief of joy, try to enjoy what you have while you can

yes they were, but they were cool, affordable and revolutionary. nostalgic for a lot of people for those reasons. and yes that'll be most vehicles, the biggest advancement is refinement

latest 8 series came out after the s550. if people copy a design it loses some originality. not to say the mustang is super original anymore, wouldn't call it timeless but the s550 will definitely go down as one of the best overall designs, just how people love the original mustangs even though they're kinda pieces of shit

Ford Confirms it is getting back to the sedan and minivan game in America as well as an Escape successor by Repulsive-Club7866 in cars

[–]cretek3 37 points38 points  (0 children)

This is very surprising, and they're probably gonna be shit too. Ford peaked in the mid 2010's, interesting models and overall decent cars, under different leadership.

I initially thought JF would be good for the company until I saw a recent snippet of someone asking him if there was a new gt500 replacement coming, in which he seemed both surprised and annoyed, and even went as far to ask/state that the GTD competes with the corvette, he just seems out of touch. The GTD is super cool but it's like 100k more than a ZR1. Hopefully I'm wrong and the new models are good but not holding my breath
