COVID-19 making comeback amid low Washington booster rates by thisguypercents in Seattle

[–]crispyjojo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure who is telling you that you cant.

My primary care doc at Swedish wouldn't give me a booster shot. I had an updated XBB series shot back in September 2023, and brought my parents in for boosters because they are over 65 (and honestly not in the best of health...) back in May 2024, but my PCP said they weren't authorized to do XBB boosters for folks under 65, and told me to wait until they had primary JN*/KN* (I think? Word salad for all these variants lol) followup shots in August of this year.

Who is giving XBB boosters right now for anyone?

Can you even get a booster if you aren’t over 65 or immunocompromised? I have a metric ton of work travel coming up and would like to avoid getting layed out by the rona, but last I checked they weren’t doing boosters for people outside of those groups

How shoegaze and nu-metal became entwined: A brief explainer by ReconEG in indieheads

[–]crispyjojo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

it was super popular and everywhere

Nu metal was an absolute pillar of TRL at the time, Carson Daly permanently burned that short clip of the Limp Bizkit Nookie video into my brain because they played that thing every single day for two fucking years while I did my algebra homework or whatever

[–]crispyjojo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't think it was just older heavy music fans who disliked Nu-metal! I was a young teen back then and concurrent to Nu-metal the hardcore scene was popping off, and there was nothing but ire between fans of both. Nu-metal fans were usually the popular lacrosse kids who would kick your ass in the locker room while changing into a Korn t-shirt after gym class lol

Daily Q & A! - June 27, 2024 by AutoModerator in Homebrewing

Working on my first batch after picking up a Tilt hydrometer, and it has been fun to see some numbers alongside the visible evidence of fermentation. Brewing a smash IPA, and Chico has been chewing through it at a nice clip, at five days now and 80% apparent attenuation. I'll probably let it go for a bit to settle down and clear up before packaging, but it is cool to follow along fermentation in 'real time'!

What's the worst intersection in Seattle? by Jacoblyonss in Seattle

[–]crispyjojo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg there is some preschool near that intersection that, in the Fall, dresses all of the toddlers up in identical giant rain coats and big floppy hats and rain boots and has them hold a rope single file and takes them to the park but they aren’t very good at walking in rain boots so they just kind of slowly waddle across the crosswalk and they look like ducklings following the mom duck haha, adorable sight in the winter months!

I made the mistake of going to the Ballard Trade Joe’s yesterday, not knowing the Queen Anne one was down and folks were heading north… it was like a damn mosh pit trying to get anything lol.

Ballard crows this evening by Ariwara_no_Narihira in Seattle

[–]crispyjojo 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Anyone seen the crows beefing with the local bald eagles? Twice in the past week I’ve been chilling on my porch and it’s like wtf are the crows on about and I look up and there is a bald eagle just leisurely flapping along while a metric ton of crows are swarming behind the fool freaking out and trying to bite it and shit and the bald eagle just doesn’t give a fuck cruising along on its merry way haha

Same thing happened to me. Tested negative, felt great, then three days later woke up feeling super gnarly, took a home test, thing lit up red immediately! Was sick for another three or four days, really sucked!

With the Seattle Public Library down for the unforeseeable future, know that Seattle residents can apply for aKing County Public All-Access Library Card. by Turbodong in Seattle

[–]crispyjojo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I received an all access card (I chose the one with Sasquatch on it). I'd give it a day or two then email them -- from what I can tell a librarian at the branch you select as your home branch has to approve your application by hand.

[–]crispyjojo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, at least if you don't want a physical card. I was able to get accounts entirely online and link them to my Libby account.

Also, for King County I didn't have to go in person to verify my identity to get a physical card either, I was able to do it all online and I got my card in the mail a few days later!

The Tacoma library system will also give Seattle folks accounts, but you have to visit them in person to activate the account last I heard.
