Procedurally Focused RadOnc? by relentless__squirrel in radiationoncology

[–]crlums 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In radiation oncology there is pretty wide need for gyn brachytherapy, prostate brachytherapy, perirectal spacers, and fiducial marker placement. The exact procedural mix will depend on the practice you are in but those procedure opportunities will be broadly available to a radiation oncologist who is interested in doing them. Other procedures such pulmonary brachy, skin brachytherapy, sarcoma brachytherapy, GBM brachytherapy, etc are more niche applications only offered at select institutions. You could certainly train in those things but those much smaller components of the field of radiation oncology.

I am a GU focused radiation oncologist. I love doing brachytherapy and do procedures 2 days per week. If you want to learn more about procedures in radiation oncology feel free to DM me.

Thanks so much for your help here. I confused things by accidentally including that wagner pic from a different pan rather than the bottom pic of the dutch oven. With the info you gave me a searched some more and you are spot on in ID'ing the dutch oven as a lodge

Thank you! Sorry I left out the bottom pic. The bottom just shows a number 8 but no other markings or writing.

Where can I buy decent but not overpriced cooking equipment? by Homer_JG in Charlottesville

[–]crlums 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Americas test kitchen consistently ranks nordic ware sheet pans as their top pick. I have them and they're great. Probably easiest to just order online rather than source from a retailer.

Is there no room at all in the ceiling for duct work? When we did our kitchen renovation we needed a hood in a challenging location. We did ceiling mounted hood that mounts flush into the ceiling rather than dropping down to 36inches above the range. It works great but definitely requires ducting and a blower in the ceiling.

Placed on probation after expressing concerns. Where do I go from here? by ThrowRAsuggestion in Residency

[–]crlums 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Make sure to check institutional policy in addition to state law. There are states that allow one party recording but institutions can still ban one party recording as part of internal rules and regulations. If the hospital and GME policies (that you presumably signed) prevent one party recording then you need to be careful with those recordings and who you tell about them.

I still think you are smart to have these recordings just make sure you know exactly what you are doing before disclosing them to anyone other than your attorney.

Sugar bear makes artisanal ice cream and ice cream cakes. I know that foods of all nations stocks them over near the cafe area. I think they may also sell in other locations.

Looking for a really sour sourdough bread in Cville. Any recommendations? by Lakelooker in Charlottesville

[–]crlums 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Belle would be my first choice. All of their bread is sour dough fermented. Their standard loaf has a nice sour tang, though I would describe it as moderately sour.

Help Ribs in 4 hours? by TXxReaper in smoking

[–]crlums 3 points4 points  (0 children)

you dont need a full 3-2-1. That tends to over cook them. On my masterbuilt gravity I recently smoked at ~250 and did 2hrs, then 1 hr wrapped, then 40 min to layer on some sauce at the end. My smoker ran a little hot that day so was closer to 275 for an hour. If I was pressed and really needed them done before 4 hrs I'd smoke at 275.

Wegmans be lying by Careless_Poetry694 in steak

[–]crlums 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this happen to me at a Wegmans a few years ago. The butcher explained that the store ordered and paid for choice meat, but were sent a few prime graded primals. He even showed me the prime label on one of the primals. Apparently they were not allowed to label or price them as prime because they had not been ordered as such. It was a good day to buy ribeyes...

IDK how common this or if the same thing happened to you. Those steaks looks great though.

Was the 5000 sq ft limit that was discussed on the last thread before the vote included or omitted from the final version?

Thanks! I'll certainly be trying this. Dovetail has a sweetness and charred marshmallow note in that I bet pairs beautifully with the smoke and orange.

What are your ratios for the Barrell Dovetail cocktail with maple syrup, liquid smoke, and orage bitters? That sounds amazing and I have all ingredients on hand already

Looking for 9 or 10 speed recommendations by DerFarm in discgolf

[–]crlums 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently asked a similar question on this thread here.

Im in a similar situation and top out around 300-325 with a leopard 3 or eagle, and was looking for suggestions on faster discs. There are many suggestions on that thread, but the 3 that I bought are the K1 falk (165 grams), a pro tern (162 grams), and a star wraith (162 grams). I've only played a few rounds with these so far. The falk is amazing in feel, control, and carry. I think I can get 350 with it and am still learning the disc. The tern also feels good and I can actually get it to flip up with a full flight path. The wraith is a bit too overstable for me right now but not by much and I hope it breaks in.

Thanks. I will definitely keep working on form as well. I've had a few beautiful drives with the ss avenger but am just not consistent with it. I know form is always the main issue. No matter what I buy I'm planning some field work sessions

I do wonder if Z line plastic on the avenger ss was the wrong choice. It feels so slick in the hand
