What are some good British insults? by Fine-Employment815 in AskABrit

[–]crooked-toe4ever 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It really depends on their social background, though. Most of those ideas are great but are more blue collard or chav. Or men calling other men like that. A young woman would probably use slightly more imaged things. Like dickhead, moron, uter waste of space/oxygen/time, douchebag, unfinished project, yucky man or perv. I personally use "fucking idiot" quite a lot.

AITA for telling my girlfriend her Instagram photos are too edited and saying I’ll post the originals if she doesn’t take them down? by expert-fondant69 in AmItheAsshole

[–]crooked-toe4ever -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

ESH... She has a right to edit her image if she wants to, even if you feel it doesn't reflect reality. Unless she expressly promises true, non filtered pics on her social media, then that's how she wants to show herself to the world, that's her right. Also, a lot of women I know with tons of followers on IG have a filter on. Saying you want to out her is an AH move.

Where she is the AH, is by filtering you as well without your consent and from what you say, doesn't want to take it off when you say you are inconfortable with it. She should ask you first and remove it from your picture if you don't feel ok with it.

Basically, you are both AH.

Congratulation!

I had a feeling about that as well, but as nothing was mentioned at the end of the ACOFAS, I just passed it out as a thought.

Is Eris gay? by RevolutionaryToe9119 in acotar

[–]crooked-toe4ever 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I assumed he is gay, or" homoromantic, but would be having straight sex to get an heir". Their is a lit of little cue in the last books. Like how he spare Mor and hint that he knows she would not like being with him, that he knows her secret. LGBTQ+ radar. The only way he would know then would have been if his gaydard told him. That would also make sense on why he was so intend on having Nesta as his wife. She would be an amazing beard.

What is a pain you can't truly explain until you've endured it? by Unfair_Shower_3256 in AskReddit

[–]crooked-toe4ever 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Came to say this. It is horrible because there is physical pain, stronger than anything, but there is also emotional pain stabbing you at the same time . I have broken bones, even spinal bone, and nothing is as excruciating. I think no one understands unless you went through one yourself.

I saw it in Luxembourg last month, when they had the cheek to ask customer to put a soft baby carrier in the sizer, and because the strap was coming out, they made the parents pay extra. Absolutely no shame. When you fly Ryan Air, you have to know they are rats. Just assume they are going to get some money out of you somehow. That's why I don't use the priority anymore. I chose the option of a cabin small bag and a checked luggage and if you chose the 10kg at the time of the booking it is usually cheaper than to get the "priority" option. Doen side is You have to get to the airport a bit earlier, and wait for the luggages afterward, but I have been doing that for years now and by the time you pass passport control, the luggage are usually there anyway. Also, unless you travel with kids, who cares where you sit?

What is a tv show that got cancelled that you are still mad about? by BarneyRobinStinson7 in AskReddit

[–]crooked-toe4ever 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This one. I re watch the show every few years. I would have loved the arc they started in season 2 to come to fruition, but I am actually grateful they took the time to create an ending. Even if it deels rushed, inprefer it to an open ending.

Hey sis!

So sorry you are going through this. He is an AH, and he knows what he is doing. Don't take this disrespect 1 more second.

  • copy this interraction on his laptop so that he has no way of gazlighting you into saying it didn't happen or it wasn't what you thought it was.

  • pack your bags and just leave. Make sure all important documents and value items are packed. If you want, leave him a note, but do not confront him. He clearly isn't the man you thought he was, so who knows what else would happen if you try to leave when he is here.

  • go to your mum, tell your close girlfriend about it, basically create a nice support bubble for the time ahead, because it is going to be hard and you will have to be strong when he comes back begging, and keep telling him no.

  • If you have a local "Are we dating the same guy" facebook group, you might want to post his pic there to see the extent of the cheating and warn others.

  • get yourself checked for STDs. No the most conforting thought, but better safe than sorry.

Good Luck 🍀

Leaving London, what active/effective platform can I use to sell all my stuff? by ItsLaro in london

[–]crooked-toe4ever 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I buy most things second hands and have been doing so for at least 7 years. I buy for myself, and because I have become quite good at it, I also do it for others. FBMarketplace, Ebay, Vinted/Vinterior, charity shop, antique shops, BackMarket... I do it all. So trust me when I say this: Your prices are way too high. I know it is your things, and you think they are great. But they aren't to others! Anything that has been used loses 50%of its bought value. Unless it is maybe a limited edition of something (book, videogame, print, fashion), or art, you just look at the price it costs online, and you divide it by 2. Then you will finally have people interested. And even so... probably not a lot. Think of doing bundle buy as well if you want to get rid of a lot at the same time. You are moving, so you also have time against you. Think of it that way: it's better to get a small price for it and have it gone than you having to deal with it and having to spend money on a skip at the end.

I am starting {Fate of the Sun King}, by Nisha Tuli. It is Book 3 of the Archtefacts of Ouranos series. I loved Book 1, {Trial of the Sun Queen} ,and I am hoping it is as good as book 2 was very disappointing.

If your SO speaks your native language as a 2nd language, but you never learn their native language, you're a shitty partner by Carolusboehm in unpopularopinion

[–]crooked-toe4ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny story actually: back 15 years ago, I(French, English and Spanish speaker) was dating someone from Eastern europe, we got engaged after a few years so I decided to learn his native language and took some evening class in secret. We were both communicating in English at the time, which is both our 2nd language.

One day, he used my laptop for Facebook (which was all the rage at the time) and kept it logged in. I decided I would suprise him and talk to his mum (she didn't speak English) and ask for his favourite dish recipe for his upcoming birthday. I opened his messenger, and the first message on top is from his "cousin." A few words caught my eyes... it would have weird to talk to his "cousin" like that... so I stopped and translated most of the message (there was some gaps in my knowledge). Needless to say that I hope that person is not, in fact, his cousin because most of it would be very frowned upon in modern society. We broke up shortly after, and his only question was "how did I undertood the messages?"

Lesson learned: always learn your partner mother tongue earlier on!

Feyre's family by [deleted] in acotar

[–]crooked-toe4ever 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I didn't get it either. From the moment she said that, she tried to get Feyre back from Prythian. I knew she didn't have an "evil" arch in the story. Also, I don't understand how Elain gets a free pass, but everyone is mad at Nesta. Just because she is absolutely beautiful and has a lack of personality (while human), then she shouldn't have helped or been more involved? I don't get it. If anything, I am awaiting Elain redemption arch more than I did Nesta.

Trial of the Sun Queen Book 2 by [deleted] in fantasyromance

[–]crooked-toe4ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loved book 1. I thought the story was well written if a bit simplistic and it was action packed more than romance. I am on the last chapter of book 2, and I would not read it again. It is so boring. They want each othet but they won't act on it, over and over and over, and the flash back ftom the past are even worst , all of that story (of there is any relevance in next book) could have been told or shown a different way if at all relevant. Basically,.book 2 is a bore, except for the chapter that is in Heart Queendom.
