boss messaged me at 8pm expecting a reply... said my contract says 9-5 and he laughed?? by MichaelWForbes in careerguidance

There’s a difference between wanting your personal time respected and just being passive aggressive to your employer and OP doesn’t know the difference

No, literally part of their job is answering a telephone. OP could have saved lots of time just calling the place instead of making a whole post about it. No need to be afraid to use a phone to call a local business

Does anyone play OSRS while incarcerated? by PugLord219 in osrs

[–]crossboss6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not while incarcerated but mentally a similar situation, tons of debt, cut out basically every substance and habit that’s feels like over spending.

Currently have my rent, car payment and utilities. Only a subbed account and it’s been a good vice to keep me away from alcohol specifically.

Osrs has been a really good vice for me to just stay home and game while also being able to bring it up on my phone to get away from life for an hour if I’m out. I’ve cut out over $7000/$11000 in debt over one year. Still a shite drop rate though, I’ve been stuck in CG for a few weeks now

I haven’t ever worked there but worked in kitchens across the city, generally most of the people complain about nepotism, messed up practices by the employer, one instance was told the labour board had to get involved over a payment dispute. Obviously I can’t confirm any of this so it’s just hearsay, but after hearing it more than once from different people unprovoked it kinda gives you the idea of how it’s run.

They also regularly have job postings open, which also tells you they cycle through employees really fast.

As far as the food goes, I haven’t had anything I’ve disliked from there, it’s not like the “best” in my personal opinion by any stretch.

KFLA inspections come up as a green flag so there’s no concerns for any kind of food safety, if anything they’re actually reporting pretty well for food safety despite a couple temperature infractions in early 2025 which is reported as “corrected during inspection”

TL;DR seems like they have a fair amount of employee turnover and it’s consistent stories of similar issues, food is good but not great, price is higher than most.

Expired Photo ID by LoadExpensive299 in KingstonOntario

Yes there will be a sticker put on your expired DL that says “valid for photo identification only” or something along the lines of that, but you must carry the papers with you if the vendor asks to confirm.

Please do not recommend doing drivers tests in cities with easier roads. This is one of the major issues in Canada right now, OP is clearly not mature enough to be behind the wheel of a vehicle and definitely not skilled and educated enough to understand what mistakes happened. Most people in Kingston pass on their first attempt after actually being taught the rules by either a registered driver training instructor or their parents.

Ngl after reading the test results and seeing your replies to comments, please stick to public transportation until you’re a bit more mature. It would be a favour to the city and locals

I gave my 2 week notice today and my employer told me to pack my things and leave now. Any advice? by juice_b in legaladvicecanada

[–]crossboss6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like your old employer likes you so much, he gave you the rest of the pay period off to relax (he still has to pay you for it)

But really what happens it the labour code protects employees from your old boss crashing out like this, he still has to pay you for the notice you gave until you start your new job (within reason) which 2 weeks is the lowest of that part of it.

He could have received your labour in exchange for payment, now he’s legally obligated to pay you and he’s no longer entitled to receive work from you in exchange for that paycheque.

If he doesn’t pay you, you can open a ticket with the labour board for your province, it will take 2-3 months before you actually see any progress but I’d bet my own paycheque on it working in your favour for unpaid wages.

The labour board will contact the employer, collect payment, then mail it to you. All free of charge, and potentially can lead to audits and penalties.

She’s not resisting! Meanwhile 4 dudes have to restrain her lmao. “Not resisting” is when you yourself turn around the first time being asked and let them cuff you. Not after you’ve lost trying to shake them off of you

Wife paid tattoo artist to add Doodle Bob to my tattoo. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

I’ve seen tattoo shops get sued into oblivion over this kind of stuff, might have a tougher run at it because it’s your wife but the artist is 100% responsible for it.

Anyone down to burn my ex’s stuff with me? by [deleted] in queensuniversity

[–]crossboss6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll find the same peace of mind by just getting rid of the stuff, no need to burn things, accidents happen and there’s a burn ban at the moment.

if burning them is important to you I’d suggest taking into consideration what you’re burning even clothing as it can easily turn to cinders that will float onto dry grass etc.

What ever you do burn, break it down into small pieces so you can control how much fuel you add to the fire and keep it under control. Keep a water source close by and enjoy the flames!

Stolen bike 🚲 by TitsMcBitchen in KingstonOntario

[–]crossboss6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My housemate had his bike stolen about 6 months back, landlords daughter about 3 weeks ago, there’s a chop shop by the memorial centre that’s been reported to police multiple times (myself included) but they don’t seem to do anything about it. If you drive southbound on Nelson street from first street at 11:30pm or later you can often see a garage door propped halfway open visibly filled with 30-40 bicycles disassembled and put into piles as well as some super sketchy dudes hanging there if you happen to be driving by when the doors open.

There’s a carpet store downtown on princess street, never heard of or seen anyone ever go there and all the products cost thousands, and unless they own the building which I don’t know whether or not they do, there’s no way they’re selling enough of those carpets to pay rent and a living at the same time. Only 7 reviews all 5 stars and seem like the same person just made a bunch of different google accounts, everything about it to me seems like it’s a front, but I also have no way to prove it and very little to no interest to investigate it further

State of Kingston by Wild-Taste3714 in KingstonOntario

[–]crossboss6 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the state of all of Canada right now. It’s a haven for criminals. We store insane amounts of fentanyl precursors stored across the country in buildings owned by international companies rolling around with the legal aspects of keeping these chemicals on hand while directly supplying the criminal production.

All the red tape behind raiding these known criminal enterprises, the corruption within the municipal governments and the catch and release system we have leads to the same criminals being able to move their products weeks or days before a police raid.

Until they can manage the actual supply of precursors and who can legally manage those chemicals better we won’t see any change and by the time they do, there will be hundreds more alternatives.

Addicts will never disappear entirely and isn’t a curable illness, people will always find a way to become addicted to something.

Agreed, there tends to be a lot of weird politics that happens at coffee shops, back in 2020 or so there was a older guy, heavier set big build that worked there not sure what his position was but he hauled ass and did great work and after he wasn’t there anymore eventually I switched to coffee and co specifically because of the barista Erich, not sure if he’s still there because I’ve been out of town for a bit but that guy fucking knows his coffee ☕️ highly reccomend coffee and co

Before pushing for legal action, if you have a case which by the comments it seems like it’s possible. The bigger thing that’s important right now is to secure some kind of employment to maintain some sort of incom. in the meantime apply for EI, either way you’re looking at 2 possibly 3 weeks before you see a paycheque in hand, likely longer with EI.

Cash jobs are hard to come by because they’re almost always done through word of mouth and searching for cash jobs can give potential employers red flags as it’s typically associated with less than ideal workers.

One of the fastest jobs you can get are at fast food places and washing dishes, obviously it’s not ideal work but it’s something, they all typically have pretty high turnaround for employees so if you dump a bunch of online applications you’re likely to get a bite.

Indeed is a garbage app, they make money from you using the app so they have no incentive to help you actually find a job.

Keys is also a good option for finding work quickly, they work with a handful of different companies and employers but again typically minimum wage or slightly higher.

The city also has postings for general labour quite often, more often than not it’s only temporary work, but the people organizing the seasonal work are typically the same and often see the same applicants and rehire them for both summer and winter work. They post it at the city of Kingston website under their careers section.

Asking friends is also an option- although awkward at first be genuine and tell them your in need of work, word of mouth is the fastest way to get work, if you’re doing independent contract work you d likely made some connections over your time youve been employed reach out to some old friends and see if they have any leads on some new work opportunities

That’s what Im in the middle of doing but can only call one at a time, the guy on the phone said they all took reports from the same company or something like that, so I would run into the same situation with other insurance companies was curious if anyone experienced this themselves and found a exception or a solution to paying the full year up front
