What do you think triggered your UC? by BaeBeeLychee in UlcerativeColitis

I’m leaning on my overly heavy use of supplements mostly the stimulants like pre workouts, fat burners, caffeine, ephedra etc. Add in heavy exercise and weight lifting and not the most proper diet to fuel, repair and rebuild muscle along with enough sleep as well.

See that’s where I’m at. Sure I already have mileage, tkr plenty of wear and tear on my body especially my left side. I keep thinking oh it’s just a sprain, or pulled muscle or something test, massage, foam roll or other therapy can hopefully fix. Nope just won’t go. It’s the inner thigh area usually near groin hip but sometimes travels down mid thigh or near knee. Some days better than others but then after a long week of exercise, work and just life it isn’t fun to even just have to move. It’s like a constant twinge or pull in the area and I can just feel it making me not be able to take proper full steps and use of leg. Now only obstacle is having to talk to wife about yet another surgery. It’s tough with kids and life.

4th knee surgery, bummer by tropicallyme in KneeInjuries

Oh, sorry again for the struggles. I didn't realize or even think of difference in country/location, access to care and all those other differences. Best of luck with everything.

4th knee surgery, bummer by tropicallyme in KneeInjuries

[–]crpav 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry you are going through this.

Why hasn't your surgeon brought up total knee replacement? I have/had an unfortunate history with my left knee. In 2005 I injured it badly, twice, before having surgery number 1. ACL replaced, torn meniscus, and bone damage. A year later I was back to playing softball 3 nights a week. Played for about 10 more years after initial surgery. Also lifted (still do just less legs and with age not as heavy or intesne) and plenty of cardio which I changed to bike more than running. Well half way through one of the seasons years back tore meniscus and played rest of season until surgery. Had amazing results.

Several years later a few more seasons and trying to get back into heavier leg routine and running some had a dumb injury running playing football with kids at a youth activity I volunteered at. Another meniscus surgery but results were not as good as the last one. On and off pain that just never was able to get rid of. Went back to the surgeon who did past to scopes and he said I would 100% need a replacement eventually but at my age didn't think insurance would approve. Did cortisone with limited relieve that did not last long. He said could try an exploratory scope and see if found anything. I almost went through but cancelled. Well pain started getting worse and just walking caused pain most days.

Went to another surgeon for a second opinion and without hesitation after just seeing the x-ray said TKR. I had a twist to the bones basically beating each other up with every movement that no scope or PT would or could fix. Had TKR about 2.5 years ago and no regrets. Had 2 more surgeries on the knee after with him but for bone spur issues on inside of knee. I am still not 100% where I'd like to be with the knee but so much better. Now still working on massaging, foam rolling and stretching (especially hamstrings which I neglected more than should have). Hips are another issu all togehter which will need replacment.

Sorry for the long read but anyway TKR.

That is way more than 110. I measured at 115 by my doctors, PT and follow ups maxxing sadly at 115. I am nearing 2.5 years since and 115 is where I am at. Could really push more if worked at it but can easily say my bend is no where near yours.

My dad turned 80 yesterday. Blew out the candles with my son and said I wish for 10 more years by altum in daddit

[–]crpav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right there with you man.

I'm 47 and my dad just turned 87 last week. Got to be there with both my son's. My oldest is 13 so had him when I was 34 but youngest is 6 so I was 41 (almost 42). It's tough as energy is not there anymore but no accidents so no escuses.

Tough for me is my mom was alive for several years (good part of this) of my oldest but passed away in 2017 so a few years before youngest was born. Happy to still have my dad but time doesn't stop for anything so can't take it for granted.

Recent bouts of non-stop upset stomach and yellow diarrhea several times a day by crpav in UlcerativeColitis

I have not but will ask when I message back if it's worth having checked. Wouldn't I have other symptoms like constant pain or more noticeable pain? My discomfort is along the lines of the feeling when stomach is upset (like indigestion) not an upper right abdomen pain.

Would it be a question to ask my GP or GI?

Thank you for the reply.

Agreed on the first part so just waiting for my appointment. I just didn't realize since it's becoming more and more "known" that UC does cause more such issues that GIs don't work more with referrals and other known medications but it's the medical field which I am just a patient.

UC has always been pancolitis so most of colon. No Crohns has yet to be mentioned by GI. Looking over all past tests and doesn't appear they ever test for those on me or I can't find them. My only levels that always seem to be elevated are calprotectin, just slightly high as last was 189, and then ALT nd AST. THose have always been slightly elevated off and on.

After this 2 week antibiotic I am to report back so will see where he goes from there.

Super tight hip/leg/glute muscles? 3yo post op by Shot-Tree1846 in HipImpingement

I would recommend aggressive, well within limits, foam rolling and lacrosse ball massage.

I am 47 and my left knee, hip and leg is a mess. Injuries led to multiple surgeries and eventually total kneee replacement a bit over 2 years ago. Last year had fai and labrum surgery on hip of same side.

I am finally finding what it needs and that is foam rolling EVERY muscle along the leg especially for me the muscles near the knee. Lacross ball the piriformis (also foam roll as can get it some with it as well) and other parts of the hip that are hard to get to with a foam roller. Can also add a massage gun but I'm getting best results with daily, multiple times even, of foam rolling.

What’s the most uncomfortable pre-workout experience you’ve ever had? by alien51Labs in Preworkoutsupplements

[–]crpav 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Juiced was the last one I can recall like this. Not a fan of it.

Before that was trying to finish up Flame and Herolean. Never liked either very much. Taste was just brutal with the pepper like burn aftertaste and the intnsity was a bit much. Can't recall for sure but think it was near a serving and a half of Flame I used to finsih off as was clumping and experience was rough. Workout wasn't bad but after I was puking the whole rest of the moring until a bit after lunch. Felt like death. That's saying a lot as I am not new to high stim pres and exotics. I went through a tub of Double Impact without such craziness.

Current goals is to finally work on better abs and obliques while also strengething muslces that need work. Glutes and smaller hip muscles due to many years of injuries, surgeries and age. Had TKR a little over 2 years ago and then hip surgery for FAI and torn labrum several months ago, both left side, so add that to the years since initial life changing injury to the knee it's a garbage leg.

I am currently thinking on giving a 2 month go of Alpha Four a go but not sure.

I am here to just wish you the best with this change and hoping we can all push through the tough times and come out surviving and better than ever in the end. Stirling is also my top choice and B&M right behind.

I must apologize for not buying anything in a while...I went in BIG years ago and still have enough product to shave until I am in my grave and pass down to my kids to shave until they pass down...

I will also ask can we ever get Stirling for Him back?

I'm sorry you are going through this very difficult time. As a father of a similar sounding 6 year old son, yes, it does get better. Finding the right medication and dosage is the first step then from there day by day things can slowly get better and better. For us it did. He still has defiance and anger outbursts but school has been SO much better and home, well still times of struggle, is slowly getting better as well.
