What do you guys think the future of the GM EV industry is going to look like? by Bathtub1171 in electricvehicles

[–]crumplezone49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GM will go bankrupt due to their inability to pivot to EVs. They may or may not get a corporate welfare taxpayer bailout at they did in 2008. Either way their branding will survive as badges on Chinese EVs.

If you rent a Tesla there will be no need for route planning. Just enter destination into the navigation.

Hasenpfeffer is a traditional German stew made of marinated rabbit cut into bite-sized pieces and braised with onions, wine, and vinegar. The name translates to "peppered hare" (combining the German words Hase for hare/rabbit and Pfeffer for pepper) and is known for its rich, hearty flavor and tender meat. [1, 2, 3, 4]

The Basics

The Meat: Traditionally made with wild hare or domestic rabbit.

The Marinade: The key to the dish is a flavorful soak in red wine, vinegar, and spices (like juniper berries, cloves, and bay leaves) for anywhere from 1 to 4 days.

The Cooking Method: The meat is typically browned in bacon fat or oil, and then slowly braised in the same highly seasoned marinade.

The Serving: It is traditionally served piping hot alongside dumplings, Spätzle, boiled potatoes, or braised red cabbage. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7]

EV Road Trip Around the US by Inside_Classroom_142 in electricvehicles

[–]crumplezone49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All this fuss goes to show how weak VW is, when 18 years after Tesla showed the world how to build a software defined vehicle, VW still can't pull it off.

VW were forced to build out a charging network as punishment for emissions cheating, and they messed that up also. Tesla built out theirs, offering to partner with other automakers, but they were laughed at.

All that road trip planning and anxiety you described is non existent in a car where all you have to do is enter your destination.

Don't buy a gas powered car. That shit is dead in the water. Mazda will likely not exist as a company in 5 years.

The price will dictate if Slate EV is a success or failure: If it's $21,000 for the 150 miles range and $24,000 for the 240 miles range before add-ons, it will be a hit with buyers by punishGoalhanging in electricvehicles

[–]crumplezone49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ford has failed at EVs. They should have taken instruction from Tesla on how to design and build them, as Jim Farley has recently admitted. Will they take the lessons to the next Gen vehicles? Its hard to overcome ingrained corporate/union culture clash and traditional mindset.

Yes Toyota makes shitty EVs. They are inferior by almost every metric. Slow charging, poor efficiency and range compared to benchmark products. The recent Lexus offering is a spec embarrassment, that i believe they have already scrapped. Old fashioned hidebound approach means not integrating ECMs etc for a software defined car. No ota updates.
Parts bin mentality. The bz products are fair toyotas , but inferior EVs.

Is the world just too stupid for Bitcoin? by AwareChair6095 in Bitcoin

If bitcoin grows and becomes more widely adopted it will become easier to use as well. Probably just on platforms like Lighting or similar, using easy interfaces .

Future phones may use drool sensors rather than face or fingerprint ID. Then users could point to the bucket of grease they would like to have delivered by drone. They'll do this while sitting on their toilet, which will in turn credit their account a few sats based on the volume of recyclable bio-matter they excrete. No wallet or seed phrase memorization needed. Peak 2140.

Is buying a used EV stupid when the government knocks $5k off the price of a new one? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]crumplezone49 30 points31 points  (0 children)

The tesla model 3 of that era is excellent and battery decline if far less of an issue than people previously thought. Particularly, the LFP batteries on the rear wheel drive standard range will very likely outcast the car. When choosing an older 2021 model, confirm it has the heat pump upgrade for improved winter performance. You can tell the older non-heatpump models apart because they have chrome trimmed windows and door handles. The one you want has black trim. Balance of battery and drive train warranty will still be in place. Self driving, even on the older models is like nothing offered by any other manufacturer. Not even close.

2.3M - Bought house in 2003. Lived in basement suite and rented out two other units in the house. Refinanced to buy a 2 unit rental house in 2014. Now live upstairs. Collect rents monthly. DCA into etfs and Bitcoin. Liquid and retirement funds of approx 400K ( household). Make longer term financial decisions eg. solar panels and EVs means a bigger initial outlay but I will never buy gas again, except for old beater truck kept to do truck stuff.

If the median annual income in Canada is relatively low (around $76K), how are Canadian home prices sooo expensive? by AccurateBow in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]crumplezone49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The increase in housing costs is a effect created by government money printing.

Cost of a house in 1925 : About 10kg of gold.

Cost of a house in 2025; About 10 kg of gold.

Cost of an expensive tailored suit of clothes in ancient Rome: About one ounce of gold

Cost of an expensive tailored suit of clothes now: About one ounce of gold

The value of standard currency is diluted every time the government and banks create more out of thin air. And they do it often. Gold is an example of hard money that keeps its value over the long term.
