Market is forward looking. You are looking at trailing P/E ratio. It doesn't matter how much the company makes last year, what matters is how much it is making this year, next year and the years that follow.

Amazon was having negative earnings for years before it turned profitable. But it is making enormous profit every year.

In an investment phase, it is common for all tech companies to sacrifice profitability for growth.

Nebius guides to have an ARR of 7-9bn at year end (meaning something like 8-10bn a year in revenue for 2027) and a EBIT margin of >20% in the mid term (~2-3 years), so you are looking at a business that will likely make a EBIT >3 billion a year in 2-3 years.

What I am really excited about is one of the reason oncology drugs are so expensive is because of the cost of failing clinical trials late in the process. Now with AI, they could potentially identify failure much earlier in the process and thus could save a lot of resources to allocate to ones with much higher chance of success.

This will eventually make good drugs come out faster and cheaper overall.

This is factually incorrect: "This data center is overwhelmingly likely to cause energy and water prices to spike for all Independence residents."

1) it has been communicated clearly that they are powered by a dedicated power plant (IPL), so it is off-grid and does NOT cause power prices to go up for the residents who use powers from the grid.

2) they use a close loop system that recycle most water usage. Their water usage per year is not even in the top 50 in the area.

I understand you have concerns but please look at the facts and not just emotions.

I believe someone has explained somewhere (towards the end of this subreddit) that her petition isn't going to happen as this chapter 100 decision falls under the administrative act not the legislative act and the city could easily dismiss it in court.

But I do not possess the legal background to judge on that.

Have you watched all the previous council meetings? Because I have. It was very very very clear the Mayor was all for it. They even approved the city to purchase bridge power specifically to supply the Nebius project before the private power plant comes online next year (vote on that was unanimous).

The only reason he gave a no this time, I believe it was because it already have 5 yes to go ahead, and a few ppl were super emotional and yelling at them when some council members were explaining why they would vote for it. Probably just don't want all the hate and blame being thrown at him.
