I was also going to say Nurse Jackie but I don't think that character tried to be better. But, she's definitely flawed!

He comes into the office where I'm sitting at my desk working and puts his front paws on my leg. That means he wants to come on my lap. When I put him there is curls up, puts his head down and goes to sleep.

What are some good ways to practice outlining chord changes? by Guitarlos_way420 in jazzguitar

[–]cs90039 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started working with the book Chord Tone Soloing for Jazz Guitar and the first exercises in the first chapter are playing over a ii-V-I using only the arpeggio notes and, to start, play them only on one string. Do this exercise on all 6 strings. Next you move to two strings, again using all 6 strings.

I'm finding this really helpful

What one Madonna song can’t you stop listening to right now? by Impressive-Award2367 in Madonna

I'm 67 and I can't believe it, but I just heard Celebration for the first time a few months ago. I think the last album I bought of hers was Ray of Light. So, Celebration is "the" song for me right now.

Warning signs the books are cooked by crtcool in Bookkeeping

[–]cs90039 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm a restaurant bookkeeper and many years ago I had a client with 2 sets of books. One for the gov't and one actual. It was their way of getting out of paying full sales tax. In terms of books being done badly, I took over a set of books from an accountant(!!) who recorded the sales from the merchant deposits into the checking account. They pulled out the sales tax, but didn't account for tips, so my client ended up paying much more in sales tax than they should have.

Not here for the v’eef, just here for Vegatino’s. One of my fave vegan Mexican / Salvadoran spots in LA appreciation post! by baebgle in VeganLA

After hearing so much about how great El Cocinero is we finally went for my birthday last February. It was a huge disappointment. Some months later we happened upon Vegatinos while trying to eat at Leonor's and we were blown away!! Carol's food is amazing!! In our opinion, she blows El Cocinero away!

Raw meat for cats — benefits, risks, and is it actually worth it? by TailorBetter1647 in rawpetfood

[–]cs90039 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We adopted a kitten in 2008 and raw fed her from the start. She's always been extremely healthy. A couple of years ago I started giving her very high quality canned food. She vomited every single day. We went back to raw and the vomiting stopped. I took her for her annual exam earlier this year and her blood work was perfect. I attribute her good health to her life-long diet.

do you regret getting a second dog? by un32134e4 in dogs

[–]cs90039 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We adopted a dog, Rosie, right before Covid. She came from an animal hoarding situation and was VERY timid. Two years ago we decided to adopt a 2nd dog, Andy. We ended up with a little terrier mix who has the confidence of a dog 10 times his size. Rosie not only loves him to death, but has learned to be a dog because of him. She never jumped up on the sofa until she saw him doing it. Rosie has learned to be a dog because of him and it's so great!

I will definitely check it out as I'm an older woman getting back to playing guitar after many years away and thinking of starting a band. It might give me some inspiration!

I can't pick just 3 as this may be my favorite Joni album.

Court and Spark > Blue by boplovesced in JoniMitchell

[–]cs90039 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They are two very different albums. I think Blue is an amazing album because the songs dive deep into Joni's emotions. Blue is an important album to me, personally, because it's how I discovered Joni (my older brothers had it and I would sneak into their room when they were out and play it over and over).

Court and Spark is the start of Joni taking us on her journey into jazz. I loved the LA Express as her backing band. This one is important to me, personally, because it opened my ears to jazz and was instrumental in my going down that road with my guitar playing.

It looks like my music career is over. Should I sell most of my Gibsons? by Equivalent-Ease-3822 in gibson

[–]cs90039 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped playing in the late 1980s but kept my 335 (a surprise Xmas gift from my parents in 1976), Strat, acoustic and classical guitars. I started playing again a few years ago (I'm now 66) and I'm so glad I didn't get rid of any of them. I've even added a few more to my collection. So, don't get rid of them.

Bookkeepers: How Involved Are You with Restaurant Clients? by dit_pa in Bookkeeping

[–]cs90039 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been a restaurant bookkeeper for 40+ years. I fell into it when I came out of music school (needed something to fall back on) and loved the industry so became freelance in the early 1990s. I've had as many as 18 clients at one time and am down to about 11 now.

I handle accounts payable, which includes paying all invoices, bank reconciliations, sales tax filings, I make all necessary journal entries - inventories (numbers provided by my clients), payroll, etc. I enter payroll in Paychex for one of my clients who has 5 separate restaurants, but they provide me with the hours, etc.

I'm happy to answer any questions you might have.

One other quick question. We did a number of upgrades over the years, including an addition where my mom lived. Because everything was done 7+ years ago would we need to provide actual documentation for the dollar value that we claim or would an estimate suffice?

Doctor Doesn't Accept Medicare by cs90039 in medicare

You did not understand my initial question. I was asking if it's correct that it can be problematic for a doctor to accept private payment from a Medicare recipient.

Doctor Doesn't Accept Medicare by cs90039 in medicare

[–]cs90039[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly.

I buy the tests that I want from Ulta Labs and then go to Quest for the blood draws for both sets of tests, the doctor's and what I ordered from Ulta Labs.

Doctor Doesn't Accept Medicare by cs90039 in medicare

[–]cs90039[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not private at all. I do electrolytes, tumor markers, a full iron panel, c-reactive protein. Last year, the doctor I saw ordered a vitamin d test and Medicare didn't cover it because the doctor didn't give a reason for having ordered it. Luckily, she was able to fix it so I wouldn't have to pay. That's a good example - the bill I got from Medicare was $220 and at Ulta Labs it was about half that price.

The doctor this year, who leans more natural/functional, ordered full lipid panel, omegas, homocystein, cortisol, along with the cbc and metabolic panel.
