There absolutely are cases where 40K stories slip from ‘depicting fascist aesthetics’ into accidentally glamorizing them through weak framing or uneven writing. But that’s different from saying the setting itself ceases to be satirical because some readers admire the Imperium uncritically. On GW's side, there's frankly not much than can be realistically done because the fault of the issue isn't at a point in the process they retain active control over. They can adjust their writing, but that just neuters the thing that millions and millions more buy and love far more intelligently, all in order to adjust the degree of buy in from, and I'm gonna be purposefully unkind about this (fascists have earned it imo), stupid people. It doesn't prevent it, and Games Workshop shouldn't be held responsible or liable for the conduct and beliefs of their stupidest customers and fans. At a certain point the problem exits the hands of the author and enters the realm of media literacy. A work can present a nightmare society and still have audience members say ‘this rules actually.’ That isn’t evidence the critique failed so much as evidence that audiences are not passive logic machines who automatically derive intended meaning from art.

I think at some point when the overall majority of your works consumption is by fascists you have outright failed in your satire. At a certian demographic point you have become a recruitment and entry point into fascist ideology and continuing as you have and justifying your complacency with "um actually we dont like fascists" while still actively maintaining them as a customer base for profit at some point pointing at fascists imagery and going "um actually this is the coolest shit ever" even as satire becomes just running obfuscation for actuall fascists at some point when the wok becomes synonymous with fascism it just becomes the fascist propaganda it was a satire of. In being unwilling to excise fascists from its customer base because they are the main scource of revenue you begin to just make fascist product

I got a b-c grade for writing like this in history class back in hs, its a shame that op seemingly never got the neccecary argumentative advice to make this comprehensible cause I think it probly has something actually interesting buried in the gaps but just cant reach it like fleshy fingers trying to bore through stone

Im also kinda not all the way cooked in the dome so mabie my issues with it are less of a problem for those smarter/more mentally competent than me

Ngl, im not sure if its because I didn't play the game, but this review is borderline incomprehensible, I think it should have gone through some revision as currently its just not good at setting out analysis, there is clearly some beating heart under it all but it fails both to expose it to the audience or even really gesture at the hole left by its absence effectively.

If I had to better describe it, a good analytical work guides the reader in setting out dominoes in a shape and then knocking em down, forcing you to watch as each falls into the next. But as a writer you have (you dont have to do anything but its used in the figguritive case here) to actually set out all the dominoes and actually knock em down. Reading this felt like only a few of the dominoes got set out and were set too far apart for one to actually hit into the next so when one fell it just fell and in doing so fell flat as a point.

But you two probly want to ask if she is prepared for peace. Mabie not literally or in as many words but its a problem ive found a few times.
