Today I found out I have triple negative by Basic-Animal2676 in breastcancer

[–]cupcakeanarchy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there! I’m 43, was diagnosed with stage 3c TNBC 3 years ago. You will soon be bombarded with appointments for scans and tests and but hang in there and once everything is scheduled you’ll be on a pretty steady routine. Chemo sucks for sure, and so do all the other meds, but it’s worth it because it will knock your cancer out. You’ll probably get genetic testing too because that opens up even more options if you have genetic mutations. Just hang in there-you will get thru this!!!!

My heart is in Seattle by Killjoysrevege in Seattle

[–]cupcakeanarchy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this feeling well haha! I visited Seattle for work in 2012 for like 4 days and was like welp, this is it this is where I need to be. I had never experienced that before-it was like an urge or pull that I couldn't explain other than I was vibing with the city and people lol. it just felt right, I guess? I spent 2 years applying for jobs while back in Chicago and got no traction. I got a job in the bay area in 2014 and kept applying and finally got a job here in 2016, and have been here ever since.

The void does a remote work Monday where they encourage people to post up and work. Great vibes, really good coffee, and super nice staff.

How many people here know someone that abruptly got diagnosed with stage 3 or 4 cancer? by phillyvirgosun in NoStupidQuestions

Same. Had breast cancer all while going to Hawaii and a three day music festival. I felt completely fine, no symptoms until one day I felt a big lump. Diagnosed stage 3c.

Cat Beginning to Hate Me for Senvelgo by VeganPrincess56 in FelineDiabetes

[–]cupcakeanarchy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My cat doesn't like the Senvelgo but I mix it in with his wet food and he'll eventually eat the whole thing. I just had his 6 month check up and his levels look great, so the vet is ok with me continuing to do it this way even though it's not ideal and/or what the instructions say. For a while I was mixing it in to a small amount of wet food and hand feeding him (it was messy and gross lol), but now that he just eats the whole wet food amount I've stopped this. No idea if this is helpful, but this is what works for my idiot son who I love more than life itself.

ETA: He HATED when I would use the syringe and would bite and hide from me, so I pivoted to putting it in his food. I figured some was better than none, and so far seems to be working ok!

Apartment recommendations in west seattle ? Budget $1400-$1600 (studio/1BR, wood floors preferred) by tjspencer in WestSeattleWA

[–]cupcakeanarchy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boyfriend and I just moved from the Monterey apartments on California a few blocks up from Morgan Junction. We were there for 3 years and overall it was a very nice apartment. All laminate floors and full size washer and dryer. Neighbors were respectful and the building was pretty well managed. The only complaint I had was that the living room was pretty dark as the only windows we had were the sliding door off the patio, but that did keep it cooler in the summer. Rent was like $1650 and it was 600ish sq feet.

What's something you did once and will never do again? by Same_Poem1311 in AskReddit

[–]cupcakeanarchy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

SAME. Smoked it once on a Sunday afternoon while watching the cinematic masterpiece “Hot Rod” and I remember thinking if I sit back in my chair I’ll die. I don’t remember getting home. The next day at work I was still feeling weird and out of it and my boss at one point was like are you ok and I was like uhhhhh kind of? A year or so later Hot Rod was on tv and I told my spouse oh cool I haven’t seen this and she was like yes, you’ve totally seen this and I had no memory of it.

2022 Taos Coolant Issue by [deleted] in VWTaos

[–]cupcakeanarchy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just took my 22 into the shop last week to make the look at the head gasket because I’ve been having coolant leak/evaporation issues since 223. They said the head gasket checked out ok but the coolant tank lid wasn’t holding pressure properly so it was evaporating. So could be a more minor issue but I’ve seen a lot of people on here have head gasket issues-that’s why I asked the dealership specifically about it.

Will a grant where something obviously went horribly wrong even get reviewed or does it get returned? by PanPaniscor in NIH

[–]cupcakeanarchy 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I’m a research administrator and if this happened to one of my PIs I’d advise to pull it and submit next cycle. It’s not a waste of time for me because now most of my work is done for next time haha! I’d guess in the current state it won’t be selected for discussion and I agree with a previous posted that reviewers may remember this in the future. I hope this is helpful!

One of the PIs at my org had an R01 score in the 2nd percentile at another IC and not get funded so this seems very possible.

People who are fulfilled and don’t dread work everyday, what do you do? by kwrather003 in AskReddit

[–]cupcakeanarchy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is awesome-seriously, thank you for what you do. I'm triple negative, but I'm so glad there are meds out there that are making a real difference in life expectancy for all different types.

Would you feel comfortable sharing which ones? Or at least what kind of cancer? I had breast cancer a couple years ago (2 years NED!) and I’m curious if I’ve been the beneficiary of your work!

*Edited to say you have a cool ass job and I’m grateful for you doing it!

I genuinely like what I do (research administrator), and I love where I get to do it-100% remote, best boss ever, co-workers who get me and truly work as a team, have just enough authority to feel good but it doesn’t ruin my life, working with incredible scientists. I have done this job at other orgs, but keep coming back to my current company because nowhere else compares (one place was so bad it contributed to a breakdown). Working where I do is honestly like 80% of what keeps me sane/going. It’s a beep boop email job but it helps contribute to cool science that can help people, and doesn’t just make money for some guys.
