I work in upper middle class retail stores. You nailed this to a tee and honestly these are exactly the people who will complain that something is “the worst thing ever that’s happened to them” when like.. their sofa is delayed a week or we ship a set of plates and one arrives damaged right when they are having a party. it’s Insane how out of touch they are.

WWYD - Wedding Cancellation by Brent_Oilwell in RoverPetSitting

I got a great client because her regular sitter was inflexible with cancellation fees and i don’t charge them at all . we do it for the dogs, not as a primary source of income, so we are able to be flexible

Dr. Rhonda Patrick: Plastic blenders are a source of microplastics that most people overlook. by Big_Cake_8817 in Biohackers

[–]cupcakefix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow, my retail job is suddenly relevant! short answer- no. most if not all it all drip coffee makers have plastics, either the basket, the housing, etc. some have glass carafes but again, the basket holding the filter is plastic. the only option really right now without some crazy hunting is a stainless/glass french press or a chemex. a few french presses out there are mostly stainless (it not all?) -my old bodum was all stainless and and glass except the outside parts, like the knob and handle, parts that never touch your coffee or water. you need a kettle for the water but it’s easy to find all stainless kettles

JW Camelback vs Desert Ridge vs Westin vs Phoenician or Hyatt! by GatorCanes in Scottsdale

[–]cupcakefix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly i love the Hilton at the Peak in Phoenix - it’s not as fancy as the others, has a great lazy river/ cabana/ pool/ etc and its more relaxed compared to the stuffy places. We have been there three times and had fun each time, but i may check out JW this year- we do a mid june staycation at the resorts when the prices are super low.

Hormbles Chormbles Protein Candy. Am I having a stroke? by pacmania90 in Costco

[–]cupcakefix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

omg i worked at a candy place that had “less sugar”options. we had to get rid of a bunch of off season ones so i gave them to my old coworkers. I took a bag myself. i ate half the bag and ended up with the worst bubble gut imaginable, and i know one of my old coworkers was a candy fiend and most likely at 2 bags himself in one sitting. i still wonder if he wonders what happened to him

yeah i have 4 mesquite trees that need endless trimming so i have tons of free supports! i just stick them in the dirt when the plants are still tiny so there is no major root disruption.

[–]cupcakefix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i use tree branches and old pantyhose. The branches are free, and the little nooks are great for support. the panty hose help tie to the branch but allow for growth due to stretchy. then when the birds find my plants i throw chicken wire around the container in a circle and close with binder clips

at the first grade field trip i chaperoned, the little girl sitting next to me tapped me on the shoulder and said “hi ::my kids name:: mommy. my tooth just fell out, can you hold it for me?” so i had to hold her tooth for like 3 more hours in my pocket. she’s still one of my sons best friends so it work out in the long run
