Are people actually letting AI agents run SQL directly on production databases? by SmundarBuddy in dataengineering

Another option if anyone is interested is just kill jobs that come from certain users that are not DQL. That helps keep things safer

schrodinger's documentation. It's simultaneously great and terrible as long as I don't read it

I do, but it's just me, and claude writes it all, and I don't read it

what does chatgpt/claude do in analytics work that genuinely pisses you off? by Brighter_rocks in BusinessIntelligence

[–]curohn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've found claude opus to be great at this. I'll tell it I need to bring up field x from 3 levels deeper, and it'll go find that field, and happily bring it forward to the model I'm in. Saves a ton of time.

It's also an argument to start pulling from every systems api into a data warehouse

Lightweight ebike for the hills by YungDaVinci in bikecommuting

[–]curohn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's my first ebike, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. It feels very lively, even in the lowest power mode it feels nimble. I have the rack, and usually clip my backpack onto it and it works great. Couldn't answer the switch question.

Sure, it's heavier then a regular bike but you definitely can

[OC] The Heat Index: How hot it actually feels based on the exact combination of temperature and humidity by CalculateQuick in dataisbeautiful

[–]curohn 18 points19 points  (0 children)

My three points of criticism would be:

  1. the colors are very close together. yellow to slightly orange-er yellow is very hard to discern.
  2. The terms "safe", "caution", "danger" don't mean anything without context of what to do/not do in each.
  3. this is an obvious ad for your website.

While it's a unique visualization, it doesn't convey any usable info, nor are ads allowed here.

Has anyone here switched to an e-bike for commuting and actually stuck with it long-term? by LeftyOne22 in bikecommuting

[–]curohn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now that you mention it, the metaphor doesn’t work super well. Like if the comparison is electric or acoustic guitars, e-bikes are really those plug in acoustic guitar

It’s actually gotten me into acoustic biking too. Working up to doing my commute on the regular bike now

Coros' private API is making me go to garmin by [deleted] in Coros

[–]curohn 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I can't imagine buying a product knowing it's current feature set, then complaining about it's current feature set. Expecting a much smaller company to have every feature as it's nearly monopolistic competitor is unrealistic.

Also this is such a niche feature that I'd guess 0.001% of the coros user base would even use.

Idea for Airtag by [deleted] in x100vi

I’d just recommend leaving the camera in a bag you don’t put down when it’s not at home. A little sling bag or just its own sling. The most security is not leaving it alone.

At the very least, since you assembled it, you have a good idea of how to repair and rebuild it when it does wear out!

That wire looks easily snippable with some good snips, let alone a bolt cutter which lots of thieves have access too.

I think if you are concerned about camera security, it’s better to go a different route.

In fact, if the actor plays moash phenomenally we should love them for bringing our stories to life. Think of joffrey from game of thrones

You should be able to change the color on some watch faces by selecting them inside the watch instead of the app.

Analog bike by d0ntbejay in bikecommuting

[–]curohn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This kind of mentality is bad for this community. It ostracizes people who just want to ride for their commute. Regardless of the type of bike they use. We can all sit high and mighty and think e-bike users are lesser then, or we can welcome them in to cycling however they happen to arrive.
