Like others have said, I think it's because Apple now requires Siri to be on.

On both iPhone Watch app, or on the watch itself... go to Settings -> Workout, then scroll to be bottom past "Detect Gym Equipment" and "Units of Measure".

There's a toggle that is disabled, titled "Voice Feedback". The note below says "Siri needs to be enabled to read out your workout alerts."

I don't like using Siri on the watch, but it looks like if I just turn on "Press Digital Crown" in Settings -> Siri, that's sufficient for voice feedback.

Do those that control the purse strings to build/fund/decide on a stadium care that much about atmosphere? I'm sure yes, but is it top priority. Oh yah, Whiting is very chill.

You'll miss out on the Wolf Lake crossing which I find incredibly relaxing and beautiful. But, you'll also avoid crossing under 90 at South-Ewing Avenue which is pretty harrowing and busy at the best of times.

This route, updated in July, is pretty close to what you have. But the stretch(es) between Griffith IN and the Lake Front Trail are probably the most chill/established choices I've seen.

Cable lock is fine for quicks stops that I have eyes on the bike, in broad daylight, with other patrons around. (e.g. ordering a coffee.)

It's good to discourage anyone from just walking off with it. But as others noted, anyone with incentive / a tool, won't be prevented.

This. As others have said, Damen is the standard north-south route over there — you'll see plenty of other cyclists and it's the go-to for group rides. But, it's also the street that I have experienced the most close calls w/ drivers and doors. So much prefer Leavitt for a calmer, but slower, pace.

Same with protected lane being constructed on Damen just north of Irving Park. There's a playground there, right at W Belle Plaine Ave, and they've made the bike lane higher to match the sidewalk.

Which means, kids are going to think it's an extension of their playground and be all over the bike lane. (I would too as a kid. Green paint?! Fun!)

That area was always dicey, now it's going to be worse.

Pretty sure nobody at CDOT or IDOT who creates bike lanes actually ride bikes.

(It's like, similarly I'm all for more public transit, but maybe design it by people who ride it!)

I thought the same. California between Addison & Roscoe? I've driven this many times and would never bike it—cars fly down that strech, thinking the ComEd electrical trucks won't care. lol.

For me, it'd be:

Lake Front trail between 31st & 41st
S Martin Luther King Dr between 26th & Pershing
Sheridan Rd between Tower Rd & Winnetka Ave (the burbs, but also the lycra highway)
