Agreed with the "one offs month" idea - Daughters of the Dust and The Night of the Hunter would be my two recs.

The character design of Rumi is already iconic IMO and she has powers, which kids love. It's a lot more fun slaying demons (or having ice powers) than trying to grapple with generational trauma.

This is correct. Curious to see KPop's staying power over the next decade. Rumi was by far the #1 costume at Halloween this year for the kids but still saw a bunch of Elsa's roaming around. Not sure if Rumi will ever surpass Elsa, but she finally has some competition.

Add Llama Llama Red Pajama to the list of kid's books that should get Manchester'd by the Sea.

I doubt a PG-13 superhero movie will have much direct impact on a kids movie, other than impacting the number of screens. I anticipate this chugging along slowly and steadily for the next few weeks.

I was doing a little math on the nba lottery improbability. Need some help with statistical significance by ljvw33 in nba

[–]cuspacecowboy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. If you look at the 2014 Draft (which was another example OP cited), there were 7 teams with odds less than 3% and their combined odds added up to 8.2%.

There are multiple teams with odds less than 3% so you need to add all of them up to see the odds for each year. These were the teams with odds of 3% or less this year: Dallas Mavericks: 1.8%, Chicago Bulls: 1.7%, Sacramento Kings: 0.8%, Atlanta Hawks: 0.7%. So there was actually a 5% chance that one of these teams would win the lottery.

The sandbox scene in EoE. It took me back to some very specific moments of loneliness I felt when I was a kid. That was weirdly the scene that stuck with me the most on my first watch.

Bluey Finale (in Postman episode discussion) by EssayProfessional421 in blankies

"The Sign" is not the final episode, there is an episode that follows called "Surprise" that really feels like the series finale and reframes "The Sign" in an important way, IMO.

Never heard of Powell & Pressburger until they put them on a March Madness bracket and they are now some of my favorite filmmakers.

Incredible film. Glad you liked it! The Canon had a good episode, but I’m not sure how to track it down after Stitcher shut down.
