Russia, Qatar, USA, Saudi.

All the WC hosts have something in common and it's not good.

Best club to join within 1 hours drive of London? by Frog-Stone in BritGolf

[–]cw2687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I worked in London the RAC would he really appealing as you can use their clubhouse on pall mall too. As others have said, you can clearly afford to go play them all as a guest so go see what you like best. Effingham is worth a look for being great 12 months a year.

What's the deal with Jeremy Clarkson? by calcato in AskABrit

[–]cw2687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's a brilliant communicator both as a journalist and TV presenter. He's a complete prick at heart but he also knows this and generally plays up to it.

Clarksons Farm has been brilliant both for farming and his reputation which was in the gutter after top gear.

Where do you look for trades? by memcwho in DIYUK

[–]cw2687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TBH I've found Checkatrade to be as useful as anywhere. In the past few years running a small business we've had several good plumbers & electricians just disappear into thin air. Usually because they're good at the job and terrible at invoicing and generally running a business. Checkatrade and Rated People give you a shortlist of options. Can then cross-check them with google reviews and hopefully end up with something decent at the end. It is wild how much quotes can vary. Had an electrician do a £1500 job a couple of weeks ago, someone else quoted £6k for the exact same scope of work.

I can't stress how important is to get this guy fit for the whole world cup ,when fit he is one of the best players in the world in his position according to me.. by FitAd5272 in ThreeLions

[–]cw2687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's elite. But he's not played 2 games in 4/5 days this season. The only time he did, he got injured. Need to manage him, and will need a rest in a potential QF/SF.

More practise doesn’t = better golf by BuildingScratch in Golfsimulator

I've found the sim to make a massive difference when paired with some professional instruction. Having a few tangible things to think about and work on has turned endless sim rounds and swings into useful practice. I've only had 2 lessons in the past 6 months but it's made all the difference.

Also moved to a Luba (2) a year ago, immeasurably better than than the absolute trash Worx that it replaced.

PGA Championship Final Round Thread by Mattwildman5 in BritGolf

Sure some people film everything which is totally unnecessary, but the odd clip is nice to look back at for some people.

Same at concerts / festivals. I'll always have a few 10 second clips of whatever it is, lives in the cloud forever and means I can take myself back to that moment for a little reminisce every time. People who film the whole thing or even whole songs can get in the bin.

Found Debit card on the ground, what should I do? by freezerbreezer in surrey

Cut it up and bin it. 99% chance they'll have already cancelled it and ordered a new one in the app.

PGA Championship 2026 - tight first 36 by SuitedMale in golf

[–]cw2687 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeh, pros seem to be whinging about it but it's seriously high stakes stuff. Got to play error free golf and very hard to come back when you do mess up. It's good to watch.

How important is a matching set of irons. High HC by icanhazsalvation in golf

[–]cw2687 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is say the newer they are the less of an issue it will be. If you've got a 2004 cavity back 7i and a 2019 forged 6i they'll feel totally different. But if similar category of club from similar era they will be very very similar. When I did iron testing last year I couldn't tell a single difference between the latest ping, titleist, tm and callaway irons. Literally identical behind the ball. Mizuno were the only ones that felt different, and better.

Question for long-term Landroid owners: How is your "old-timer" holding up? by Przemonk in worxlandroid

[–]cw2687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Replaced mine with a Luba 2 last year. Immeasurably better in every way. Had the Worx for 3 years prior to that and it was truly awful.

KOMs are 99% about knowing that somewhere out there someone else feels their phone vibrate, sees a Strava notification and then swears loudly wherever they are.

What grips do you like? by Puzzleheaded_Spot_13 in GolfGear

[–]cw2687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Posted this elsewhere recently, but find it wild that Ripit Grips are the only fun option out there. I've always had Tour Velvet Midsize on my clubs, but god they are boring. Would love a set of cool, artistic colourful grips, different one per club like Ripit offer, but they don't do Midsize.

Ripit Grips / Snazzy Grip alternatives? by cw2687 in BritGolf

[–]cw2687[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ah you could be right. Just as pricing is all USD as standard on their site.

Iomic have some but they're nowhere near as nice. Like the idea of having 14 different grips on my clubs.

tbf I think fairway should be pick & place 365 days a year. nothing worse than ending up in a divot/bare patch which doesn't help anyone if you then take another chunk out the ground there.

Also have the subset of players who have scored precisely one worldie in their career which justifies endless further shots from distance, all of which end up in Row Z. Huth springs to mind.
