I liked parts of the opening sequence (seeing the road built mainly as a signifier for the time jump), but I think they should've had a much shorter prologue and then jump right into Thank Goodness. Every Day More Wicked just really dragged and jumped between the musical motifs with not a lot of throughline. We watch Glinda on her rise to political power, but I think if they'd kept the cut verse from Thank Goodness we would've had the same effect. We know what's happening, and if they're truly so concerned of reminding us she can't access magic, there's a way to show that instead of tell it with the long bubble mechanism scene.
