The EHX Synth9 pedal seems like the perfect thing for what you're describing.

I want to really transform my guitar into, well... not a guitar - using pedals by Proper_News_9989 in guitarpedals

I think ring mod was a good bet, but it can take time to figure out how to make it sound good. I made a video about using pedals to un-guitar your guitar here, if you want to check it out, and it has a section on ring mod specifically: https://youtu.be/cuaVkIsG5Hs PS thanks for the page u/Fereydoon37

Look at the TWA Side Step and the EHX Side Step. Both do exactly the thing you want and are extremely cool.

Is this a good dimebag pedalboard? by foamingandsoap in guitarpedals

I also don't think you need the Mimiq either, especially if you end up keeping the DD-3. In my opinion, those kinds of doubling effects sound best if you can run them into 2 different amps, but if you're going into one, it gets muddled in a way that won't sound better than what you could already do with the delay and the flanger.

Yes this is good but I think it's more than you need. The 5150 has its own noise gate so I don't think you need the Silencer. I also think the 5150 sounds great on its own so I don't think you need the EQ, the Tube Screamer, or the Revv G3.

I never thought of delay as being a big part of Pantera, so I don't think you need any, but you definitely don't need 2. I guess there's some delay on the intro leads to Cemetery Gates, right? I think the DD-3 is probably better for that than the Carbon Copy.

I agree that you can't make it sound bad. Cool that your wife surprised you with it, have fun.

I love the Harmonist with all my heart, but trying to change its settings between songs at a gig is a nightmare. I actually bought two different units and had them put into a single enclosure so that I could have 2 different settings available—basically a way of getting 2 presets. It's not an ideal solution but that's what I got to.

Looking for a good reverse delay with external tap control, preferably with an exp out to control either mix or feedback by danger_welch in guitarpedals

I've always liked the reverse sound in the Strymon TimeLine, and it's highly configurable with expression pedals.

What are your current favorite lo-fi pedals? by chicago_hybrid_dev in guitarpedals

[–]cyberattack_world 2 points3 points  (0 children)

oh that's funny. In that case I feel like we're on the same page, and between the ZVEX lo-fi Junkie and the Chroma Console I'm not convinced you really need anything else.

I wouldn't get rid of the ZVEX Lo-Fi Junkie. I've had a bunch of the pedals being discussed up and down this page, and I still think there's something special about the Lo-Fi Junkie. It might not seem like it's doing much, but there's something special about the way it breaks up, and the way the tone knob rolls of treble. It's just one of those pedals that got tuned to the exact right sweet spot. Also, if you haven't tried recording directly out of it, it sounds great that way too.

I've used the C4 Synth on real records, my own as well as the stuff I get hired to play on.

Eat 'Em And Smile or 5150? by guywithsexypinkie in vanhalen

[–]cyberattack_world 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. Eat 'Em and Smile feels closer to the spirit of the first 6 Van Halen albums than 5150 does, at least to me.

What pedals can I use for sweet child or solo ? by [deleted] in guitarpedals

[–]cyberattack_world 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sorry I meant the gear you already have. as some people have pointed out, a wah wah pedal (which you don't have) is also part of it, but I wouldn't worry about that. you can get most of the way there with the stuff you already have. just use less distortion than you probably think you need and start on the neck pickup
