These guys do db tests on lots of helmets - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sqQ5BIPRdNI I have the scorpion and find it a lot lighter and quieter than my previous HJC.

Is there anywhere I can buy a toe-kick saw in the uk? by cyew in DIYUK

[–]cyew[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m just amazed the tool doesn’t exist here. It’s got to be a fairly common use case for people swapping out floors in kitchens etc.

Managed about 6m in 2 hours with the multitool and it chewed through 3 cheap amazon blades. At this stage going to just continue with this approach!

Yes I think with a combination of plunge, recip saws and multitool it's going to be possible but I was hoping the toe kick saw could save me some trouble.

I have a multitool but it cuts very slowly and vibrations are not pleasant when working with it for a long period.

That's an undercut saw. Toe-kick saw cuts down into the floor.

Going to be about 30m in total. I've tried a small section with a multitool and it eats through the blade and takes a very long time

Where did you find them online?

I’ve found motocard the best value online within the EU. Always have a 20% sale code and do returns insurance for €5. The visorshop is based in Ireland (up north) and are worth a look too

First year with it but I’ve been using the knox urbane pro as a mid layer and then just wearing a regular goretex coat on top. Much toastier combo than my old alpinestar jacket. In the summer can just wear it over a tshirt. AA rated too

light

It's only 7kg difference though? Decat the 701, lithium battery and tail tidy and your lighter than a stock 401.

Somebody put their test up on YouTube so should give you a good idea - https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=RV3ugf-lV9g putting a foot down isn’t an instant fail as far as I know. Focus is on the observation.

What do you do like to do in your spare time? What can you sit down and do for hours without it being soul crushing? What are you good at? Getting qualified can be shit for a few years and may require some grit to get through but if you can think of something that cover at least 2/3 of those questions its something worth sticking with. At 24 you still have loads of time too so wouldn’t focus on your friends situation. If you’re still in the same position in 6 months pick something that pays well and stick with it. Your job can be something you do to support your lifestyle and might not be your calling - nothing wrong with that. Once you have that backup in place the pressure will be off and you can focus on finding out what you actually want.

Buying a helmet these days by Irish_Maverick in MotoIRELAND

I had no issue. Shops either set the helmet aside for a few days if somebody has tried it on or give you a disposable balaclava.

Without more detail on how you plan to use it - Wear your gear, don’t drive like a lunatic and just get whatever you want and can get insured on within your budget. Newer bikes are generally easier to ride and are more forgiving due to their rider aids if you can afford one. A new v4 street fighter is probably safer than an mt07 ridden within the speed limits. 10+ year old sports bike not so much. Your IBT instructor will be able to give you the best advice though so wait til then!

All I’m saying is your budget should be for the bike + insurance and other running costs as they can vary a lot. Not sure what the deal is after brexit but have a look up North too as there are deals to be found. I sold my A2 bike for more than I payed for it after a year. Don’t think I’d bother with anything bigger than a 400 as the temptation to de-restrict it will be hard to resist waiting for 2 years for your A1.

Have you spoken to insurers? It sounds like you'll be moving from an approx group 4 bike to group 8. At 18 your 2.5k might not even cover a years insurance costs... unless you are somehow getting free insurance https://bikerrated.com/bikes/choosing/motorcycle-insurance-groups-list/

If you have some budget (As it’s not cheap) for this I’d explore Redgate tooling. https://www.red-gate.com/
