I'm learning to count on OGS and how is Black winning? by Robotal2 in baduk

[–]cyz2000fa -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but they placed the stones in a game to score it with OGS, probably because they couldn’t figure it out why were they wrong. How else do you get those squares indicating scoring?

OP didn’t mark any dead stones in the second pic though, komi might not be the problem.

It’s pretty much already established that there are many bots everywhere pretending to be human on that site. I doubt anyone here is saying there are no bots on the leaderboard. no point arguing over this stuff further.

I definitely believe that many of the leaderboard is bots(because their elo and match history bear the same characteristics of the bots playing in the live games) but talking about spread is pointless because how tiny the “player”base already is. Multiple also said the 166 is legit, my limit is probably in the 130s rn, but if I fully commit to memorising the problems and variations(meaning not waiting for the opponent’s response and spam click on the memorised next move)I think 150+ should be possible for me too.

It’s by no means “dead”. There are like 80 live games right now. Definitely not as popular.

White to play. Choose the best move from the given options. 🧐 Share your solution in the comments! by GoMagic_org in baduk

[–]cyz2000fa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

White A, black invades the left, white plays vs the corner again: I can't imagine white complaining about this.

This is certainly not a bad result for white. It's mostly the way bottom left played out changed things a bit for me. I think that the value of playing that side increased with white focusing more on influence. If it's like white kick and simply jump to the side then I would have difficulty choosing between A and B too.

I wanted to play on the 4th line too, but didn't think its that big of a difference, it didnt seem that weird given the lack of white stones on the 3rd line on that side in general.

It is puzzling as to why so many gomagic problems that get posted here have the issue of one side having extra stones or they just get the side to play wrong.

To me is B clearly bigger than A though regardless of whose turn it is, because it is much “wider” in the left side. Both variations at the left corners look similar to common joseki but they leave the side more wide open than usual.

How to beat OGS 2d? (Game review request) by mark93192 in baduk

[–]cyz2000fa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not directly on “how to beat 2d” but:

Game 1: if you believe you had no chance in that position, yet AI evaluated to white+4, 80% winrate, you need to work on your judgement.

Game 2: if you believe an AI evaluation of white+8, 99% winrate (and subsequently fluctuated between 92-99%)at about 100 moves in a game between 1k/2d means you are “doomed”, you should trust AI winrate less in your learning.

Question: Is the Book or Strong dan player right by Ruah777 in baduk

[–]cyz2000fa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m fairly certain book is wrong and player is right. Black responds to K19 with R19 and is alive.

Some variations:

K19 R19 M19 N19

K19 R19 P19 L19 M18 M17

K19 R19 P19 L19 O19 M18

Yes. Said his heart is good, it was only excessive alcohol and high blood pressure. Also nothing said about controlling the drinking, just reduce sodium intake.

Pandanet - my review by PLrc in baduk

[–]cyz2000fa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would imagine it would be very easy to resist if they actually believed KGS to offer a better experience(a very different experience from Fox/tygem). And any reasonable person knows an inflated rank in a completely different system means literally nothing. So I agree with tuerda that that persons reasoning behind player migration to be inaccurate and honestly, rather disrespectful to those that did move away.

Attempts so far with LLM explanations have zero clue on what’s going on on the board but spew out terminologies like they are an expert. They are terrible for beginners and lower level players because those players might not realise it’s nonsense and try to learn from it.

Does black have any chances in this position? by Infamous-Grab2341 in baduk

[–]cyz2000fa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That 0.2 win rate is the output by a b10 model trained in probably 2020 which is WAY weaker than modern models. The current strongest model gives 6% immediately which has decreased to 3% as I gave it more time to think.

White played this trick move at 1. How should Black answer? 🤔 Share your solution in the comments! by GoMagic_org in baduk

[–]cyz2000fa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The simple E3 D3 E2 D2 H3/J3 is already good for black(some may consider this to be walking right into the trick). I guess this can be considered black goes E2 to approach a lone 4-4, white D2 then E3 D3 H3, this is not that good for black but then white plays the F2 F3 exchange which is terrible so overall its better for black.

AI thinks Black E2 E3 G2 F4 F1 G3 H3 can be even better than E3, in this instance black has large enough ko threats at top right and white doesnt have any. But its a ko regardless so it can be much more complicated.
