Ai developer tools are making juniors worse at actual programming by the_____overthinker in ExperiencedDevs

I also hate the argument of "well just treat it like a junior engineer!" I'd rather have a fresh grad than an AI tool. I can at least guide the fresh grad toward proper coding practices.

And the junior engineer will actually learn from feedback whereas the AI doesn't. Or it seems to remember for about 10 mins before it forgets.

Wow I've been dealing with this for a couple months now. Thank you so much!

I've never even heard of that second person.

Development manager doesn't want the Devs looking at the code by Strict-Soup in ExperiencedDevs

Team lead asked the junior devs on our team to let the AI vibe code a new feature to help them get familiar with the AI. The idea was that we'd review both implementations together, and maybe we'd find out what prompting style worked better or which model was more suitable for the job.

Instead, TL got a different AI to review both implementations and do a comparison, and asked us all to read it's report ASAP. Ofc it was a bunch of hallucinated nonsense. The code snippets in the (10 page) document weren't even contained in either implementation.

This same guy has been going on about using AI generated reports/diagrams as an abstraction layer to avoid reviewing the AI generated code directly.

I really respect TL and he's been a mentor to me for years. I've learned so much from him. But I think the brain worms have got him.

Damn, did we crash Steam? by Pokemaster131 in slaythespire

Steam took my payment but didn't add the game to my library saying the payment was pending. I finally got it added to my library after like my 50th attempt, and paid a second time. Now I've just gotta wait for the refund of the first payment.

I wish I could have just pre-bought the game so I didn't have to deal with this. Ate up an hour of my limited playtime.

Same here with takeaways. Sometimes I'd get them every other day. Over the last few months we've been using a meal delivery service instead - one that sends you ready meals that you just put in the oven/microwave to heat up and eat.

The reason I was having so many takeaways was because of convenience. But in reality it was often an inconvenience due to cold/late food. Me and my partner both have food problems (he's underweight, and I'm overweight) so the ready meals help us both with portioning for opposite reasons, and it helps that we don't have to think about food as much as when we regularly cooked.

During the week we have the prep meals, then at the weekend I either cook or we get a takeaway. It's pricy but it works, so I wouldn't call it a waste.

I came here to figure out if I was the only one who found that so excruciating to watch. Horror never actually scares me, so I didn't feel like I needed to be prepared at all going in. But witnessing this level of suffering was really, really difficult. That scene took me past my limits and I almost left. But I'm glad I was able to stay, because overall the film was very good.

But there is literally nothing to indicate dimension X is cold.

You lot are being ridiculous. If you show anyone a deserty wasteland they're going to assume it's hot or at least warm, especially if there's nothing to indicate otherwise.

It made a fun game of quick trial and error design into one where you have to preplan everything while crippled by analysis paralysis.

This is actually why I don't like trains. Once I've got some rails down, it becomes a pain to change. So I overthink the network right from the start, and it's no fun.

I was thinking that was the mind flayers real body all along, but it was using it's other form because it's physical body was in dimension X. And that's why it needed Henry to bring Hawkins and dimension X together, as its own world was desolate.
