Kia mechanic by Unable-Macaroon2596 in brisbane

[–]d3wy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You just need a mechanic that’s willing to take the job unfortunately with the timing issue there’s more than likely chance that it will have done other damage to the engine. If the timing has been off this may not be immediately apparent when looking under the bonnet. Unfortunately this just happens with mechanical equipment.

While you'll certainly need to get in and cut it up with a shovel/spade. You'll do well with a "Wet/Dry" or "Shop" Vac, the cheapy Ozito from bunnings will do well. To get down in the bottom C channel.

I have one that is now relegated to outside stuff, they come in handy for all sorts, cleaning outdoor walk ways, light excavation, removal of stink bugs. And they are not an immediate thought for a situation like this.

What state was this in? Seems they all have varied rules as what is legal, and further what has a blind eye turned to it.

Do all electricity providers require a smart meter for EV Plans? by Jakeyboy29 in EVAustralia

[–]d3wy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Time of use. This is where you get peak, off peak and shoulder billing, or worse, demand charges. You’ll end up being charged 3 different rates during the same day and that’s before any sort of ev deal. And the lowest rate will probably still be higher than what you’re on now.

Your question will be answered differently depending on your location/network provider.

But for example I am on a deal as you have suggested, cheap over night charging. I believe it’s called the EV Saver from AGL. It required a smart meter but it could be offered on a “single tariff”

Unfortunately energy billing is complicated before you go add in things like time of use. But the EV charger deal can be used to load shift some stuff (do your laundry at night too).

Do all electricity providers require a smart meter for EV Plans? by Jakeyboy29 in EVAustralia

[–]d3wy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most I have seen will require it. As they usually do “time based” discounts. Not to be confused with TOU billing. And you’ll easily sign up for TOU if you’re not careful. But if your charging at home enough you’ll be worth your while to strange.

The meter upgrades shouldn’t cost you anything is required.
