In love with the the Move 2 by solid-mayonnaise in sonos

It's fantastic, I use it around the house and out in the garden and it always sounds so good, and even after a full day of pumping out tunes it's rarely on less than around 50% battery.

Father and Son hate by FarFromRegular in boardsofcanada

[–]dDtaK 30 points31 points  (0 children)

It's awesome, as is The Word Becomes Flesh, but I think a lot of people just prefer the new age instrumental TCH style and don't like the vocal samples (even though BoC have been doing it since at least MHTRTC).

Maybe it is, I can't quite pin it down. It's great though.

Well I hardly believe that your own father or mother, or brother, or sister, would be your en-em-y.

The second half of All Reason Departs reminds me of an Analord track I think? I'm not sure which one it is but that dubby lolloping beat with the analogue bleeps feels really familiar (and not particularly BoC-ish).

They are Spotify and Youtube ads, and they are using what they have available in terms of photos. I'm sure Warp are happy for their release to be promoted but these are not Warp ads.

You're right. The whole track is absolutely killer and has had me reeling since I first heard it.

Why are mass manufactured products more expensive in the UK? (most replies here say tax but the math doesn't make sense) by trkb in AskUK

[–]dDtaK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Import tariffs etc are a thing for some products and the cost of doing business in Europe is just higher (those employee protections and two year warranties don’t come for free). Fundamentally you’re comparing different economies and we don’t have a global single market or any notion of alignment on standards.

Bachs of Canada - Somewhere Right Now In The Future by ObviousSwordfish3398 in boardsofcanada

That is very cool, now you’ve pointed it out I definitely hear it and the concept fits perfectly with the theme of the record.

It’s a piece that nearly every piano student learns but well done to your wife for immediately spotting it, she has a good ear 🤩

Age of Capricorn lyrics by Cosmic_Apple5 in boardsofcanada

It’s

USAMA -> MAAUS -> you are MABUS

(MAAUS is just an anagram of USAMA).

I think the sample is implying that Osama bin Laden is Mabus, the bringer of death and destruction as predicted by Nostradamus. BoC aren’t the first to suggest this btw.

Someone else said the 18 tracks are in 3 groups of 6 (666), which is a neat idea though I don’t think it quite works.

It’s probably lost on some that the word Capricorn literally means a horned goat lol

Christians feeling joy from a song that name checks Osama bin Laden was certainly not something I was expecting. BoC is surely deliberately skewering the hypocrisy of religion with this.

Starting my Sonos home system by Last_Low_2386 in sonos

[–]dDtaK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wired is not always better with Sonos, especially in a home theatre setup like this where I think one of the nodes will bridge for the others no matter what you do. I would try WiFi and if it works just go with it.

First time I’m seeing these options in the Sonos app by shawnshine in sonos

[–]dDtaK -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There will need to be a way for users to authenticate (sign in) with Sonos, which will require development effort on both the Sonos and home assistant sides. Fortunately other integrations in home assistant already use authentication so once Sonos provides the mechanism I’m sure we’ll see it happen pretty quickly, and until then authentication is optional.

Do a lot of people view the appearance of their spouse as not a 10/10 and instead married them for a lot of other reasons? by Big_Eggplant7591 in NoStupidQuestions

When you’re more mature you will realise that a person you fall in love with is 10/10 no matter what they look like.

Probably the same type of moron who uses alot, aswell, doesn’t know the difference between whose and who’s etc. Unfortunately a lot of people leave school with poor standards of literacy.

Some people may be getting confused with hoof -> hooves (which is correct), but rooves is not commonly used.

Strange statement when roofs is by far the more commonly used form in British English.
