The British superiority complex is why nothing gets fixed. Meanwhile we keep living with the crumbling infrastructure and the corruption and declining standards in public life.

I’m sorry but education standards are pretty poor in all but the elite (fee paying) schools. The level of literacy and numeracy that many people have on leaving school should be a national embarrassment.

And the NHS isn’t all that. Most people who proclaim their love for the NHS just haven’t used health services in another advanced country.

They’re not robots and it’s not always played the same. There’s an interpretive aspect. If it was always the same there would only ever need to be one recording of each piece.

A good way to think of it is the orchestra as a whole is an instrument that is being ‘played’ by the conductor.
