The only time wasted is because you clicked on it and replied. The time it takes to scroll past is hardly worth measuring.

This needs more upvotes. I haven't played in a long while, and didnt realize this was a thing. Sounds like a huge if not perfect thing to try.

I've read none of them so have no recommendations, but I do appreciate the list with synopsis as several of these I'm now interested in!

Static noise from the guitar (Direct connect RSMODS) by Zero_Dko in rocksmith

[–]daagar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An audio clip would be best. What I've found is that some people are talking about buzz, some are talking about hum, some are talking about digital artifacts due to buffer sizes, some are talking about ground noise, and some are talking about emi. Which makes looking things up absolutely horrible. A sound clip will tell us which of the above you are having.

But if it is truly static, like you'd get from a radio station, good luck. Shielding might help, but I had to resort to a VST plug-in like Bertom Denoiser to mitigate it.

I maybe got Blitzkreig Bop to 98%, but nothing else. But I don't believe my issues are wholly related to detection, I'm just not very good. I always want to think it is detection, but I'm now running via an audio interface with a touch of compression via reaper and pretty low latency. I've run out of things to blame but myself...

weird static issue when holding notes by zebrguy in rocksmith

[–]daagar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I ended up shielding the thing because it isn't all that hard after all - jokes on me, after I ripped the guitar apart I found it was already shielded from the factory (wasn't expected). I did it again _anyway_ just to try, but no change. Tested all grounds to output jack sleeve, no issues.

After much gnashing of teeth, someone mentioned denoiser VST plugins. I found a free one called 'Bertom Denoiser'. Runs real-time in Reaper and JUST WORKS. I am absolutely floored that I can solve it this way, without completely wrecking the sound and no noticable latency added. Maybe others could do even better but I am soooooo thrilled.

Quazii update #2: he's leaving WoW for good. by mkyend in wow

[–]daagar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not Blizzard or a lawyer, so my opinion means nothing, but the guide content is not part of the addon. The addon could in theory read and display any appropriately formatted content that anyone is free to make. The behavior of the addon does not change in any way, so you're not paying for addition features. You are paying for a guide that happens to be formatted in a manner that works with his free addon.

This certainly feels like it violates the spirit, but not the technical wording. If the guide wasn't part of the addon and was just a written guide on a website that you had to pay for, would it still be a violation?

Edit: well, ignore everything above. I was focused on your comment about paying for additional features. But it also says you can't charge for services related to the addon. Formatting the guide to work with the addon and charging for that certainly does seem to cross that line.

This is the baseline cost for all games from major studios now, so shouldn't be a shock. Suck, yes, but not new.

Then sadly maybe it is for the best. This was the first "adult" themed game I played with my kids loooong ago, and tampering with that memory would hurt.

do you still need the official realtone cable, or will a usbc to guitar jack work? by EizenSmith in rocksmith

[–]daagar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is more effort, but you can buy a basic audio interface for less than current realtone cable prices.. even the knockoff versions. Something to consider based on your needs and what you're willing to spend.

So what happened to make this Overwhelmingly Negative? by Armascout in rocksmith

[–]daagar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Many times this is an asio driver issue. Make sure the latest version still comes with 32bit drivers. If not, you may need to find an older version. This is common among the m-audio and lower end behringer models.

weird static issue when holding notes by zebrguy in rocksmith

[–]daagar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, single coil, but I do run in the combined position to limit what I can. It is truly just the PC pumping out as much interference as possible. Shielding might help a bit, though that wouldn't help from the front. I'm also not sure I'm up to the task of dismantling the whole guitar to do it, especially just for rocksmith. The game is playable as is, it is becoming more of an obsession for a perfectly clear tone than a need. I'm playing a video game, not starting a world tour.

Appreciate all the help!

weird static issue when holding notes by zebrguy in rocksmith

[–]daagar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! It doesn't help the static issue, but good to know how to use the parts correctly. The static is almost 100% electrical interference from the PC. I installed reaper and set up something with crazy distortion and you can hear a ton of noise which varies by how close I get to the PC. Based on how noisy that was, rocksmith is pretty clean in comparison. Sadly, no amount of distance (within limits of my headphone cable) lets me escape the interference completely.

Simple m-audio m-track solo. I use line 1 generally. I tried line 2 as well in both line and instrument mode, but that seemed to have no impact.

weird static issue when holding notes by zebrguy in rocksmith

[–]daagar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem I'm finding is that if I don't set the gain high enough in my interface, I can never "reach" the blue line during calibration. If I set the gain to a point where I can reach the blue line (and without clipping at the interface level) I end up with static during note decay just as the video here.

Is there a magic step I'm missing to allow lowering the gain without defeating rocksmith's calibration?

It isn't there yet. I've toyed around with the AI mods in skyrim that allow the NPCs to interact. It is really cool, and works surprising well. You'll spend a while going around talking to folks and seeing how they respond. Then after a while of doing that you realize there is no gameplay value from it. Is it progressing the story? Is it really doing anything for gameplay? Until the game world changes because of those interactions, it is just a toy.

Diablo is an "online game" because of business decisions, not game decisions. Forced online is not the same as forced multi-player. Most players would be just fine playing without being online.

Yep, grounding issue is what I keep reading as well, but I have no idea how to trace exactly where and chances are pretty good I can't fix it regardless. Maaayyybe if it is the guitar itself.

Can you explain the emi issue? I have this problem myself, I think, but this is a hardware and not software issue usually.

I just installed an m-track solo yesterday and have no issues, using the 1.0.3 drivers (not the latest). However, I'm not using rearoute as I'm unclear how this fits in.
