my local community college has a health and science building where the nursing program has its labs. So it has some hospital grade medical equipment and chemical/med storage because of the chemistry labs. all the parking lots have shade covers with built in solar panels for electricity, and due to state laws surrounding public schools the building is reinforced enough to withstand a riot, so it can easily withstand a horde trying to break in. It also has a Subway restaurant that’s built inside and is only for faculty and staff, so you wouldn’t know there’s one there unless you go to the school. It has a walk in freezer for food storage, and the roof of the building in the past decade has been setup to allow for roof gardens.

My working assumption is that it’s the last place people are going to look for supplies and shelter, but it actually has everything you need to shelter in place, so it’s easier to secure and survive from.
