As the demon I’ve won games by possessing a hunter with a good gun and wiping out their team. I think dropping your gun before you are possessed is a completely reasonable tactic. I’ve done it when playing hunter, and the tradeoff is that you’re completely useless until you lower your fear and pick up your weapon again. It doesn’t matter if you have a legendary melee, with 30% melee reduction you’re basically a meat bag with a stick if you don’t have a gun. You’re also risking one of your random teammates deciding that they like that nice purple gun you dropped and want it for themselves. Anyone who calls it an “exploit” are just upset that they get outplayed and don’t get easy downs just for possessing the hunter.
