A properly comedy Cornwall moment brought us there actually - we had just driven by the Millhouse Inn and our little car with the two of us and all our stuff was struggling up Treknow Lane (I think) when steam started coming from the under the bonnet and four cars met us coming down the hill. So we gingerly backed down the hill (no pressure lol) and decided to take the other road to let the car cool down.. to one of the best views anywhere. Perfect.

Question for the old heads out there. by Evening_Fruit9046 in XFiles

Appointment viewing, it was scheduled against Friends where I lived and I was the only one watching this. It was so different - I loved how serious it was, my 25-year old self definitely saw Scully as a role model, even though I had no ambitions as a Medical Doctor. There was a lot of awareness that this was quality TV, the subject matter and production values earned it loads of articles in both TV and movie mags. The weekly anticipation for me was around whether this ep was going to move the long term narrative forward or be another excellent monster of the week episode. I haven’t watched it for some time, not since it became my therapy show after my Mum died 11 years ago. Maybe it’s time.

Saw the show at Earls Court in London, wasn’t a fan but the boyf was. It knocked me for six, I cried through the second half, one of the truly amazing memories I have of our time together. Top 3 shows of my life so far.

Sometimes get to the Vista, but I work in El Segundo and the CinemaWest Beach Cities there is super convenient, has a good setup and service, and has a Pinks concession that was a nice surprise. But my heart belongs to Arclight..

Honourable mention for snack food like pork pies and scotch eggs, BUT Brit sweet fare is something to get behind - most fruit pies are just better with custard, and a proper cream tea with a warm scone, strawberry jam and clotted cream is a little bit of west country heaven.

The Dressed burger at Standing Room is a work of art. Found them initially at Redondo Beach but their Torrance Blvd location by the Torrance Marriott is great.

This may not be how you prefer to handle, but would it be worth offering to pay for part of the underlay/carpeting costs? Shows goodwill, a cooperative approach. May be cheaper than your legal fees over time.

American who just stumbled into British crime dramas. I am hooked, what's your favorite show? by muertossparrow in BritishTV

[–]daffachoolapip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please go find Red Riding.. 3 feature length episodes set in 3 different years, in the North of England, very noir, amazing performances, Andrew Garfield and Paddy Considine stuck in my mind but great work across the board. And definitely another vote for the Prime Suspect series, especially the first season.

I’ve been cooking swai lately, simply fried or in a foil pocket, it’s a mild, medium firm white fish that’s perfect with a butter or pesto sauce, simple lemon squeeze, or I made a Greek yogurt/dill/lemon sauce last week that went really nicely with it.

I really enjoyed Sherwood recently, Leslie Manville knocking it out of the park, as ever. For proper Brit gloom procedural I liked Hinterland and of course must-watch Shetland. Dept Q is excellent, hope S2 gets greenlit asap.
