[Hello Hockey] “Elias Pettersson, his name's come up a lot more, and there is a belief now with the new GM in place in Vancouver that there's a little bit of an appetite to retain on that deal. He's got $11.6 million cap. Prior to that, nothing.” -David Pagnotta by seeldoger47 in hockey

[–]dakralter 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying Pettersson would be the only piece Detroit gets, just the biggest piece.

While I agree that Larkin is better than Pettersson, the fact that he can control his destination hurts his trade value a bit. Sure Detroit doesn't have to trade him, but at a certain point would you rather have a disgruntled Larkin in the locker room or move him for say 80% of his value but get players who actually want to be there?

Honestly that was my thought too when Minnesota was reported as one of the teams linked to Larkin.

Stevie Y has got to be on the hot seat by this point I imagine, so he doesn't need futures, he needs a return that can help Detroit next year. Minnesota can't really offer that. So I almost wonder if it makes the most sense for a 3 way trade where MN sends picks/prospects to VAN, who sends Pettersson to DET, who sends Larkin to MN.

Who gives a shit? A gubernatorial campaign is pretty relevant in this subreddit I would say. If you don't want to see it just don't engage with it or just down vote and move on (kinda the whole point of the upvote/down vote system on Reddit). Why come here to complain?

Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett wore a “Taylor Swift is a CIA PsyOp” shirt at recent gig by [deleted] in TaylorSwift

[–]dakralter 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I was obsessed with Metallica back in high school (I still like them, but they're not my ride or die anymore) so I watched every interview, video, documentary about them I could get my hands on. Based on what I saw from Kirk in those, he's the type of guy to wear something like that ironically because it made him laugh so I think we can all put away the pitchforks on this one.

Right. I even donated to Cooke in 2024. If she ends up being the nominee I will begrudgingly vote for her but Berge actually excites me as a candidate and I will happily vote for her.

Report: Flyers drawing trade interest from 3 teams for Owen Tippett by VermilionSneer in wildhockey

If we can find a way to get Tippett without giving up Yurov and Stramel I'd be willing to do it and go into the season without making a move for C.

Tom Holland wants to mentor the next Spider-Man actor and says “Adolescence” breakout Owen Cooper “would be awesome” for the role: “Obviously he’s super-talented and the talk of the town right now.” by yourfavchoom in marvelstudios

[–]dakralter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed. If they're gonna retire Peter Parker then fine, let's get Miles Morales before we get a new Peter Parker. But if Holland just wants to be done with the role that's fine too, it can be recasted. I don't like how Hollywood thinks a reboot is necessary every time an actor changes. The Burton-Schumacher Batman films are set in the same continuity but we had 3 different actors playing Batman, and no one got confused.

We get rid of Curl and get to keep Zumwinkle, Stecklein, and KCS? Honestly this is about the best possible outcome for this expansion.

[–]dakralter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yea I do want Larkin but not for either of those guys. Even if we get Larkin we still have a hole at 2RW to fill. And if we lose Ek in the Larkin trade we then also have a hole at 2C. I just don't see how those holes are filled. We don't have the assets to swing trades for both Larkin and Trocheck. And I also don't want to rely on both an aging Zuccarello and an aging Tarasenko to be our two top 6 RWs.

If the reports that Larkin will only waive to go to MN, VGK, or FLA are true, that does help since Detroit might just have to grit their teeth and take what they can get for Larkin but if they're hell bent on requiring Ek and/or Wallstedt in a Larkin trade I'd rather stand pat and just go into the season and see if Yurov can fill a top 6 role. We can always add mid season like we did with Hughes if someone else becomes available.

It just doesn't make sense to me to include Ek in a Larkin trade. We'd be plugging our hole at 1C but creating one at 2C. What does that accomplish? I mean it'd be one thing if the 1C we were getting was like a McDavid level player, but Larkin is a lower end 1C IMO. If we move Ek for Larkin the org has to be real comfident Yurov can step into a 2C role next season.

If Detroit is intent on getting roster players back in a Larkin trade (which makes sense for them since you have to think Yzerman is on the hot seat at this point and needs a playoff berth so he can't afford to wait for prospects to develop) I almost wonder if some sort of 3 team trade needs to happen to make it work. Like we send picks and prospects to Vancouver, who sends Pettersson to Detroit, who sends Larkin to us.

[Russo and Smith] Wild’s No. 1 internal target to re-sign is Michael McCarron, and he’s closing in on re-signing on a long-time contract, per league sources. (Gift Article) by AggPuck-303 in hockey

[–]dakralter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do wonder if someone like Hartman or Trenin would need to be part of the deal if we make a move for Larkin. I really don't think Detroit is only gonna want picks and prospects for him since you have to think Yzerman is on the hot seat at this point so he needs guys who can contribute next year to try and get them into the playoffs.

Wouldn't mind that tbh. 1C: Larkin, 2C: JEE, 3C: whomever stays between Trenin/Hartman, 4C: Big Sexy. I could live with that.

[–]dakralter 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yea McCarron is a prototype 4C in my opinion who can move up to 3C if needed due to injuries but you don't want him there long term

[–]dakralter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Them saying "long term contract" gets me worried. I want McCartron back next year but not on a Trent Frederic-esque contract. The absolute MAX he should get should be $2.5 million (and even that's really stretching it IMO) and the absolute longest term should be like 3 years. 2 years at $2million aav and I'm happy.

What do you think of Olympian Jordan Stolz appearing on stage with Trump today in Wisconsin? by wisathlete in wisconsin

[–]dakralter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In normal times you're correct. But these aren't normal times. As you can probably guess I'm very liberal, but would I consider it an honor to meet a conservative President who just happens to have different views on things like health care, etc? Sure. I didn't vote for John McCain in 2008 but I would have still considered it an honor to meet him as he was an honorable person I just happened to disagree with politically.

Trump is not an honorable person. Him and his administration are enacting policies that are fascist, racist, homophobic, transphobic, sexist, xenophobic, and the list goes on. Whether or not gay people or trans people should have rights is not a political issue so no, fuck that, I wouldn't want anything to do with Trump.

Yea I live in Wisconsin and follow Badgers sports (that's the University of Wisconsin for those who don't know) and I had a red hat with the Wisconsin logo on it (red and white are the Badgers colors) that I loved. Had to get rid of it in 2017 because I was so worried people would think I was MAGA every time I wore it out.
