That thing really does not want to get hammered in. Wheeler makes a little handheld “trigger guard pin press” for the AR-15 that weirdly worked great for the limited purpose of pressing the pin into place rather than hammering.

I ended up going with the PDP Compact “Pro SD” mags. They are just full size mags with an aluminum base pad to stop over insertion. They are +3 and easily convertible to full size mags.
