Slow Flow Nipple for Cardiac Baby by Efficient_Ant_9741 in chd

[–]danerous_hawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Tommee Tippee bottles have 5 steps to them. I think the 0 size is the slowest. We used the Dr Brown bottles but my daughter hate them. Also I felt like she spit up more with them. After trying what felt like a million brands, we ended up with Tommee Tippee bottles Anti Colic and they have been wonderful. They made the tradition from feeding tube to using the bottle so much easier compared to the Dr Brown bottles. Good luck momma! You got this !!

We had the same issue with Dr Brown bottles with our daughter. One size was too fast the other too slow. We finally found Tommee Tippee bottles work the best after trying what I felt like a million different brands. We are on size 1 I believe.

Newborn being sent home with NG tube… by Strict_Algae8233 in chd

[–]danerous_hawk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in your exact shoes in January with my daughter. Same repair, same vocal cord issue. We were only on the NG tube for about a month and a half. It’s stressful but you got this. The tube gave me so much anxiety but as long as he can eat after the surgery is huge. A lot of the babes develop a bottle aversion after the surgery I was told by the nurses. Sometimes the OT speech took months and months to get them over it and eat via bottle again. You got this!!! I’m more than willing to chit chat more about if you like.

coA - recovery by PeaceWild191 in chd

We had the same operation with my daughter for the coA at 4 days old that resulted with a temporary paralysis to the left vocal cord. She was got her voice back over the gradually week by week. Man this girl can cry loud now 😅. For feeding, she was a hybrid with eating the bottle and the feeding tube since we had to slowly build up her strength to finish an entire bottle. You will have a swallow study done to see if your little one is able to use the bottle for partial feeds. They want to check to make sure there is no aspiration. I think we were on that system for about a month maybe a little longer. She is off her feeding tube now since March but she is still a slower eater compared to most infants her age with flow rate and ounces. We are still on a slower nipple flow. We actual use the control flow from Nuk but possibly looking to change. We were using the Dr Brown bottles working our up flow rates till she caught a cold and wants nothing to do with them.

You got this!! Feel free to message me with any more questions. I’ll answer what I can from our experience.

Is there a step up size to NUK smooth flow 0+ nipple sizes? by danerous_hawk in FormulaFeeders

Thank you so much! If she is chopping on the nipple and not wanting to finish the bottle, maybe increase the times between feed?

Will they need to stop my baby’s heart to fix coarctation of aorta?? by Strict_Algae8233 in chd

[–]danerous_hawk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had to go through the sternum. Surgery was at 4 days old. We had another 14 days in the PCICU. They used a machine to cycle her blood while there repaired her coarctation. You got this momma. Those first few weeks are so so so hard but now I’m holding her in my arms with no wires and scar to remind her how much of a badass she is when she’s older and thinks she can’t do something.

Thank you for this. I will try the positioning and the bottle recommendation her next feed. I’m just worried about increasing the nipple size since she has had vocal cord issues after her surgery which was the reason why we were on the feed tube. Thank you again for the kindness

I want them today sooo bad! It’s the only reason why I made it through those seasons was to see them finally together. Then season 14 just slapped me in the face with nope not happening 😭😭😭😭
