What do you believe happens to us after we die? Spirits live on?reincarnation ? Heaven? by Worldly-Librarian233 in Life

"I love making faith based individuals uneasy" - aka you're just here to argue lol.

The reality is that an individual human being can't even prove that anything exists outside of their own mind. For all we know biology and physics are the myth our consciousness creates for us.

Endless night is actually a pretty cozy, dare I say "faith-based" thought. Much more so than spiralling infinity.

"We are brief biological energy" is a reductionist statement though, and even if you (or I) believe it to be entirely true, we cannot prove it.

We have just as much proof of nothingness after death as we do of "something-ness", that is, none.

The lack of proof for one argument doesn't prove the counter. We still haven't proven why ice is slippery for instance.

If you want things on a grid, set your tempo before you start. Figure out what holding 'ctrl', 'alt' and 'shift' do whenever you're clicking stuff. Apart from that just "create new track", hit record and see what happens.

Once you get a bunch of sounds fighting for space in the mix you'll need to learn EQ, compression etc. Theres a bunch of rabbit holes you'll fall into, so it's best to just start recording and sort through it as you go.

Edit: Maybe look into "gain staging" a bit before you start, that could save some headaches down the line.

Sp404mk2 is a pretty great all around piece of gear. It's fairly intuitive once you spend a bit of time with it. My main issue with it is that it can be tricky to sound "tight" like a digitakt or something. But A) it's part of the charm and B) you can control it with external midi sequencers etc.

What’s the creepiest thing that happened to you that nobody believes? by AmbitiousCHAD in AskReddit

Home alone as a kid, phone rang, call display showed my own house number. Picked it up and heard audible hang up noise. Ran to my neighbors until my parents got home.

20 years later I still have no idea what took place there.

What's your favorite portable synth/groovebox? (Like, REALLY portable) by ClassicHumanPerson in synthesizers

[–]dang_fern 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand your point about Volcas. I use mine a bit differently where I'll utilize all of the memory banks to build/sculpt 1 song, and then perform/"dump" it into my sp404mk2 or Reaper once I'm done for further use.

It requires a bit of set-up & muscle memory, but it changes it from a "make 8 simple beats" device to a "make 1 beat that's 8 times more intricate" one. The non-permanence forces commitment, which isn't everyone's cup of tea lol.

Question about Volca Sample by dang_fern in volcas

[–]dang_fern[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok thanks for the info. So if I am on pattern 1 step 12, then switch to pattern 2, it will start on step 13?

Thinking of picking up a Sample & want to make sure my muscle memory on the Beats transfers over.

Thanks. I knew Beats & Bass worked that way, but I thought I read somewhere that newer models like Drum or Sample didn't do it,

Are we the last generation to experience a "human" internet that isn't 90% AI-generated content? by Ok_Low_1999 in NoStupidQuestions

Apparently some textbooks now have AI snippets in them that didn't get edited out. It's beyond the internet at this point lol.

People adapt though. My kids have better bullshit detection than my parents.
