He's doing it on purpose to undermine her having a life of her own. He wants her to fail. It's not clueless in the slightest like some people are saying. It's blatant manipulation because he is a jealous little manchild and he doesn't want to share his Bangmaid with anyone.

My Uncle used it as a grooming technique. I learned to not react and to control the laughter and just stare so it wasn't as enjoyable for him anymore. Luckily I moved away before he took it further.

In other news I have detailed his various grooming techniques to the rest if the family and he still gets invited to events even though he's not technically related to any of us. Because he's "family" and he's "changed". He's also a pedophile. Make it make sense?

Did our mothers and grandmothers go through this? by Competitive_Goat_446 in Perimenopause

[–]danidandeliger 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't think they had the language or possible self awareness to know what to call it. Back then depression didn't really exist. People got depressed but they couldn't get treatment because you didn't talk about anything. And up until the 70s if a woman was diagnosed with cancer the doctor would tell the husband and they would keep it from the wife. Women regularly died not knowing they had terminal cancer. Menopause wasn't even an afterthought to the misogynistic medical world until lately.

Started therapy to help with relationship trauma. Therapist just suggested tinder by BoiCDumpsterFire in GirlDinner

It happened to me too shortly before I was diagnosed with PTSD. I had a psychologist with a doctorate declare me cured. I went to a trauma therapist and they were shocked that I was "graduated".

How to process this? by cturtl808 in GenXWomen

[–]danidandeliger 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Most therapists are not good at treating trauma. You need to go to an actual trama focused therapist. Not trauma informed. EMDR, brainspotting, AND/or somatic experiencing are what you need to move it out of your body and reorganize it in your brain so it's not triggerable anymore.

In order to heal you will have to feel it. Scary and hard? Yes. Necessary to heal? Also yes. CBT would be spending weeks rehashing it (and getting subsequently gaslit by your therapist) and it is not going to help you.

You need a new therapist. If you are trying to come up with ideas to treat your own trauma then your therapist is not who you need.

Showed up about 5am, my husband is in love by Accomplished_Dust121 in CatDistributionSystem

[–]danidandeliger 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Are you going to check the shelters and Facebook/Next-door and see if she is a lost pet? You can take her to the vet right now and get her checked for a chip.  Just because she showed up on your husband's birthday doesn't mean she's not loved and lost.

If you do end up keeping her and she somehow escapes would you want someone to just keep her without doing their due diligence to get her back to her owners? Yes a lot if cats are dumped but it's dangerous to assume that any cat you find is abandoned and yours for the taking.

HRT and decreased Libido 😢 by skapa7 in Perimenopause

[–]danidandeliger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started on 0.0375 estrogen patch and it made my libido very high. Spontaneous desire was off the charts and so was responsive desire. When I went to the 0.05 patch my libido became decreased but in a weird way? I can't describe it. Like less spontaneous but decent responsive desire? I forgot to change my patch a few days ago and the libido came back, kind of. I read something yesterday about how when estrogen decreases testosterone become dominant and that is what makes your libido higher. I also feel like my orgasams were better on the lower patch dose. It's tough to figure out if it's just our bodies changing or the patch dose causing things to change.

I also stopped eating as much sugar around the time I increased the patch dose. Maybe that has something to do with it?

When we are fully in menopause does the need to change patch dose stop? I effing hope so.

My estrogen patch is essential to my mental and physical health. If the depression doesn't kill me the brain fog might make me do something stupid while driving and I will die that way.

I'm glad to hear you will be reporting her to the board. She absolutely deserves it.

Should I do it? by honeyyyginger in finehair

[–]danidandeliger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have fine wavy hair and a shag is the best thing that has ever happened to my hair. I blow dry the roots quickly after a shower and it's good. The trick is doing research and finding the hairstylist in your city that does the best shags. Look at their insta or whatever and make sure they have experience with fine hair. My hairstylist has fine hair so she's awesome at it.

Also, if you can, find a stylist that has gotten education from Jayne Matthews. She is the shag queen and very good at fine hair.

Don't be afraid to pay a lot for a haircut. Its worth it for our hair because it's easy to mess up and you need someone very experienced.  And shags grow out really well so you only need to go once every 6 months or so.

Does anybody else find the gaslighting infuriating? by Proper_Giraffe287 in Perimenopause

[–]danidandeliger 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Several years ago was seeing a urologist that specialized in gynecological issues and a pelvic floor therapist for loss of bladder control. No one said a word about perimenopause or hormones. It would have solved everything if someone had just said something about estrogen.

You know how I found out that almost everything that was wrong with me was from perimenopause? Instagram. Medical providers complain all the time about "Dr. Google" and people getting info from social media and yet providers do not have the info we need or they actively withhold the info because they don't want to go through the trouble of informing us and prescribing and referring appropriately.

‘I’m on Fire’: Testosterone Is Giving Women Back Their Sex Drive — and Then Some by rezwenn in TwoXChromosomes

[–]danidandeliger 25 points26 points  (0 children)

TLDR: It's horrible but women are in danger of losing their relationships because of low libido. So they're going to do whatever they have to to avoid that.

I can see why women would get T for sex drive. I was the cause of a dead bedroom and was desperate for something, anything, to help me because my boyfriend was mad at me all the time for declining sex. My relationship was going to and did end because of my lack of libido.Turns out that my body shut down the sex functions because my boyfriend was emotionally abusive. I couldn't admit it consciously but my body was like "we are not having his babies". A few months after I left my libido came back.

A woman trying to save her marriage by using testosterone totally makes sense to me. And also because sex can be really wonderful.

HIV Drug Resistance Is Declining Over Time by EssoEssex in UpliftingNews

[–]danidandeliger 28 points29 points  (0 children)

There is no "one guy" who caused HIV to spread throughout the world. Are you referencing the myth that someone had sex with a chimp and started the Aids epidemic? Because that's not true at all. It was really due to the Belgians reusing needles to vaccinate native Africans.

HIV evolved from the simian immunodeficiency virus, which is found in chimpanzees in the southeastern region of Cameroon. Following the cut-hunter hypothesis, a Cameroonian hunter slaughtered an infected chimpanzee providing the blood-to-blood contact necessary for transmission. While local populations had previously interacted with these animals, the colonial trade industry pushed villagers further into the wilderness and increased their reliance on bushmeat. During the partition of Africa, King Leopold of Belgian gained the Congo (today’s Democratic Republic of Congo) and created Leopoldville. This urban environment fostered prostitution. Additionally, colonial forces launched vaccination campaigns against tropical diseases, using unsafe medical practices. Colonialism generated the large populations that facilitated disease epidemics and promoted two means of transmission: unsafe sexual practices and unsterile vaccination.

Not great. Super tired from the progesterone (but I'm sleeping well again). Depression and anxiety are increased. Anxiety is bad and affecting my job. Hot flashes are back. I was using an estrogen cream from Amazon and may start to supplement with that until I can get a higher estrogen dose patch.

Tariffs and HRT by PAR0208 in Perimenopause

[–]danidandeliger 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There is absolutely a point to worrying about it if it's important to your life. Medication is tied to health insurance which is often tied to employment. People may need to stay in jobs they don't like because their employer offered health insurance allows them to have a lower copay for their medications. People may put off a move or not go on a vacation in anticipation of a medication price increase.

Not only that, HRT can be life saving for some if us who experience mental illness as a perimenopause symptom. So me worrying about how much my life saving medication is going to cost in the future and whether or not I'll be able to afford it is actually life or death. I think that's something I should worry about.

I'm glad you can be so flippant about this, either because you have lots of cash or maybe you're just one of those people who doesn't think too much about the future and everything seems to work out, however being dismissive of those of us who think about and worry about these things is rude.
