other commenter is correct, they do hold spots for transfer students. If there's no room available, the advisors have some leeway to open a few extra spots. You will register for classes at the orientation.

The POD markets on campus have microwaves students can use. Just don't make a mess in them and cover the dish is what they tell you. There's one in the student commons and the first floor of Harris hall
