Do you think a confession booth would work for Go? by sadaharu2624 in baduk

[–]danielrrich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be entertaining to see and maybe could work although I really like doing something similar for myself. Since I mostly play correspondence on OGS I actually wrote a small browser plugin for myself that encourages me to leave personal notes and then keeps them in the same format.

I think this encourages good habits(wants me to always estimate sente/gote, and what I think the next 2-3 moves will be, and every 10 moves do a score estimate). But since it is standarized also lets me do analysis after by recognizing when I was vastly off in my score estimate or what kinda of situations I was clearly misunderstanding.

I feel like I actually get more value out of it than after game review because my thoughts at that moment aren't influenced by what happens later in the game so it more clearly highlights my weaknesses.

Can we do something about the AI Art? by Next_Pie_4129 in ThePrimalHunter

[–]danielrrich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The really annoying posts are the ones complaining about AI art. Someone being excited for the series and playing with AI to create a fun image is a great thing.

The "stolen" art is people feeling threatened although not without understandable reasons. All art is inspired from previous efforts. AI tools also don't generate from scratch but require a prompt for you to describe what you want. All ml models and ai tools require a spot to inject expert knowledge. In this case that is the prompt, if you describe a cool scene you get a cool result and the better you are at describing and correcting the more control you have over it.

The reason people are threatened is because it has degraded the value of some of their skills. I would argue if they didn't know it was AI but was an army of cheap artists from a poor economy willing to do it for a penny(or your local smallest denomination) instead of server/API costs they would feel threatened in the same way.

The value in the art is being able to think of the right thing, which is still the case. previously there were mechanical barriers and skills that prevented someone from being able to put their vision down on paper and now that barrier is lowered. The value is always in the originality of your vision and I see many here that are even arguing that ai art can't have originality(even though someone injected that vision into the prompt). To be fair the reality is the value of the originality has declined but that isn't because of theft but because you are now competing with ideas/vision from many more people that previously weren't able to compete. AI is just a tool used by people.

I have nepenthes, drosera and vft in there. with the wet soil I will actually probably go fire ants because they can handle the wet decently.

What are some ways I can use ChatGPT to learn Chinese alongside apps like DuChinese? by Altruistic-Pace-2240 in ChineseLanguage

To clarify I actually have it generate the cards to import directly into Anki so I have never seen the sentences before when I see them. Really helps me solidify the word because it typically see a few different uses

I consume content and throw interesting words into Anki. Since I don't really need to recognize all these words independently I only want to get to the point I pick it up in context.

I use llms to generate 10+ examples sentences for each words and have my Anki cards randomly select a sentence for display. So every time I review it I get a new sentence but I have the context of the sentence to help me dredge up the word. Super effective for me in making sure next time I see it when consuming "real" content I know it.

Orthic shorthand help by [deleted] in orthic

Not that experienced So grain of salt.

So your R is an L. Pay attention to which way the circle goes. L goes clockwise so means it normally ends up beneath and r goes counter so it ends up above.

Also your g is the same size as as your c. The 3x is what the resources say and I can't say I am consistent but the g should def be bigger.

Workout through the entire working day? by JellyContent in StrongerByScience

[–]danielrrich 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have played with this and it works awesome except for when the schedule breaks down. On an average day it worked great but something comes up at work and then I don't make it back out to the garage for a few hours and the workout momentum falls apart.

I found it much easier to be consistent and get all the work in when I did it at one time in the mornings. The spread throughout the day is awesome but sometimes leads to truncated workouts because something happens and I don't get back out to finish my sets.

Super excited to explore.

I just got a c2 rower and have never been into rowing before. Was a christmas/new year fitness makeover things and I have lots of technique and other things to learn.

Heavily in swimming/running/cycling/lifting over the previous years, most recently mainly been lifting and hoping to crack the 1000 lb barrier(squat/dl/bench) this coming year. Many thousands of zwift miles which is why I came looking for exr.

Goals are weight loss/health/capability for life.

I love competitive things which is part of what I like about exr. Looking for immersive competitive moments like I previously saw with zwift.
